Default Warped Grips?

I have seen a few threads concerning grips here, so I guess it's okay to start this one. I have a set of stock Uncle Mikes boot grips on one of my 317's. I have noticed the bottom end of one has "warped" away from the frame at the heel. I have been careful not to over-tighten the grip screw, but I am wondering if this has been a problem for anyone using these stock Uncle Mike's. I can't say that I have done anything wrong but shoot the gun and clean it with normal lubricants. The roll-pin is of equal distances in the frame and I can press the grips together rather easily with my fingers.

Is warping with age been a problem for anyone else with these rubber-style grips, or have I unknowingly screwed-up something? They are not that expensive to replace....just wondering. This may give me a good excuse to purchase some quality grips, but these little rubber-things fit so well in my pocket.

I actually purchased a Model 60 that had this. I just replaced the grips with a set of Craig Spegels.

If I am not mistaken, I think the UM grips have a metal plate in them around which the rubber is formed. My guess is that over time the rubber separates from metal plate.

As you mentioned, they (UM boot grips) are relatively inexpensive. I would just replace your current sent with a new set of either UM, S&W brand or Hogue Bantum grips.
