Default back in the fold: 66 snub

Hey All,
Happy to report that I finally got my old 66-5 snub back from my Dad!

Took it to the range today. Wow! I had forgotten how sweet the trigger is: double action is amazingly smooth and stages and breaks so cleanly.
Single action is out of this world, although nearly all of my shots are double action...since this is a defensive weapon for me, and I train like I fight.

I shot some Speer 135 gr Short Barrel .357 magnum.
also: Buffalo Bore .38+P 158gr LSWCHP
also: Winchester .38 range ammo
and finally, some Federal 158gr .357

During defensive drills (4 to 7 yards) I was grouping very tight and center of mass.
I even took it out to 25 yards to punch some paper, and was amazed at the accuracy. The .38's were hitting low and right and the .357's were right on (slightly right)

I am carrying in a brand new Tucker Texas Heritage IWB, but at the range I used a Galco Speed Scabbard OWB.

I am happy to be back in the S&W fold, and as soon as I get home (house sitting currently), I will snap some photos and get them posted up.

Sorry for the long post, but am excited to have my 66 back, and will never part with it again!

WF, I know how you feel. I had a snub 19 -something back in the mid-seventies and foolishly traded it for something or the other that has been long gone. I missed that gun for the better part of thirty years.

Well, I acquired another, a 19-5 several years ago at Louisville. Not the version I wanted, but it shoots exceptionally well and carries even better. I hope I have learned my lesson.

Good to hear you are properly armed again! The snubbie 19's and 66's are my favorite revolvers by far.
