I need someone to sympathize with me!
Today I was complaining to my wife that I have been looking for a 625-3 with 3 inch barrel for the past year with no luck and now I have just barely missed 2 of them in 3 days. Both of them were $699! One had the origional box, papers and moonclips. I missed the one on Dallas Guns by a day and the one on Guns America by hours. My wife just looked at me blankly and reminded me that we can't really afford another gun now anyway. Someone out there must be able to relate to my pain. I assume many of you have similar stories...anyway, misery loves company and I just had to get this off my chest.

To make it harder on you we have a poster here who has a thread going on the M625-3 he bought at the Houston gun show this weekend!!
Just tell your wife to get back in the kitchen where she belongs and you'll just buy the next M625-3 you see!
P.S. we have lawyers here if you need one after you tell her to "get back in the kitchen.".........

Any guns in your current collection undesireable? You would not have to spend money if you sale one or two and replace it with the one you really want. I think you need a gun fund! Basically Funds on hand just for Guns, what guns you sold, stays in the fund and cannot be touch (unless it's a medical emergency, etc...)

Done that.
I have pretty much traded away all the undesirable guns in my collection. Just this year I traded a Ruger for a nice 14-5 with full lug barrel and traded a Colt revolver for a 625-3 with a 4" barrel. I think I am just being greedy...patience, patience!

Man, I FEEL your PAIN! I had to trade my firstborn for the 3" 625 I've finally got. Shot the Hell out of it at a IDPA match last Friday. Plus drills afterward. 3 guys at the match had never SEEN a fullmoon clip! Not kidding! The left very intrigued. next 3" 625 you see, you'd better jump on it. H.

WOW! You're wife is really nice! You should see the looks I get followed up by the vicious tongue-lashing I get if I even bring up the subject of guns. I've had a nice slush fund that I buy things she thinks we need out of, then, when I have the house to myself I go pick up whatever firearm I've purchased and get downstairs and get it in to my safe. With regard to family time I am very fortunate that my wife hunts and fishes with me as does our daughter who is 16. Unfortunately for my gun collection, my lovely bride hunts and fishes with me, and is in fact better at both than me (she's just lucky). While she's not conversant on firearm names or model numbers she definitely remembers what the guns we took out last time look like. She’s a very observant woman. If I'm carrying something different (new) that's when I have to go into my song and dance and explain that I sold several guns to get this new one I'm holding. Her view on guns is extremely, painfully utilitarian; when it comes to guns, unlike shoes, purses or dresses, if you have one that works (kills things) why should you need another!?
Initially, by her logic, I only needed 3 guns: A deer rifle, a pump shotgun and a sidearm. I was a Deputy Sheriff when I met her. But she's softened her stance somewhat over the years and has given in and expanded her list to 5 guns that I can have:
•1. Bolt action long range weapon (deer gun),
•2. Bedside home-defense weapon,
•3. Concealed carry weapon (that was a MAJOR concession),
•4. Turkey shotgun, and finally,
•5. An upland bird shotgun (another hard fought battle).
If she notices I have another firearm the fight is on. When she asks WHY I need yet another gun, I have to throw down on her and tell her, "I just DO". It's been a BIG tug-of-war that has been going on our whole marriage (25 years). I doubt it will ever let up unless one of us becomes wealthy and I don’t see that happening. So, hang tough, revel in your victories, even the small ones, and when you lose, retire to your Mecca, your gun room, and contemplate how you’re going to get that next gun by her.

I certainly do feel your pain. Was put on probation from buying any new S&W's for a year by the wife. I blame this forum and all the pretty revolvers, plus a lack of self control to my buying spree. Just couldn't help myself looking for them 3" revolvers. Been looking for a snub 625 myself but have not seen ANY of them priced as low as yours. I'm adding the websites you mentioned to my favorites as I could have swung one for $699.00 if I sold off one of my .357 snubs.

My wife just tells me, "Buy it if you want it. We can always sell it later if we get in a jam."
Now I used to have one that said "No more guns."

I tell my wife I got a great deal and I can make a profit when I sell it, but I never find a buyer. Must be the economy.

Hey Allen-Frame...I would quickly get one more if I were you as I only count 23 in your pic. An even number seems prudent.

Oh my do I feel your pain. I have been looking for a M25-5, nickel, 4" for what seems like forever. My wife is absolutely no help, all she says is, "you will find what you want, just wait". I know they make these, I have seen them. I just cannot seem to find one. Truthfully, I have found a couple, but the finish was really bad. Heck, I want the nickel FOR the finish. Well, my rant is over.

Now that's just greedy. Think of all the shooters out there being deprived of a fine S&W because you are grabbing up so many. I'm only half joking.

My wife and I have separate personal allowances. She can waste hers on purses or crafts all she wants and I can buy useful, intelligent purchses like guns. ;-D
This way there's no desire to lie to your spouse, which isn't much of a way to have a relationship, and there's no complaining from the other so long as the allowance is followed.
Lately most of my spending has been going towards guns and, nearly as much, to gun paraphernalia.
Works great and I highly recommend it.

I was wondering why snubs were so hard to find. Allen owns all of them.
We have a good system. The wife has her hobby Horses, she has 6 of them.
My hobby is Guns and reloading.
If you figure what she has spent on horses over the last 30 years, and what I have spent on guns, It should be pretty close.

My wife never gave me more **** than when I sold my HS2000 (predecessor to the SA XD) to pay for some of her Christmas presents one year. She was FURIOUS, because she was in love with that pistol. The XD can still be had, of course, but the HS2000 had a very different feel, and when's the last time you saw one?
The 625 3" in .45ACP is a grail gun. I have not found a single one for sale under $900 in my recent searches.

Allen, You really shouldn't gloat. Nice collection, BTW.
NRA DOC I feel you brother. I just got through doing the song/dance about a 66-2 I'm picking up this week. I think I may have overdid it though and for awhile I'd better lie low. That's ok as the only other things I need are a 3"/4" 629 and a CZ75. At least that's all for now.

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Wives generally offer opinions; not commands. Discern the difference. The reverse also applies when wives want to buy whatever they want to buy. I think one of the reasons I've been married for over 50 years (to the same woman) is that we cut each other some slack when either of us wants to do something the other would prefer we not do, certain limits applying. Tolerance is the key.
You want to buy a gun? Do it. She wants to buy some expensive jewelry or vote for someone you detest? She's an adult and can make her own decisions. Neither should try to be so controlling. Life's short. Enjoy what you want to enjoy responsibly and with due consideration to others. You make your choices. They are not necessarily her choices.
John

My wife.....bless her..she's put up with me for 38 years. Doesn't say anything when I want a new shooter. I have a little fund set aside for such things. She even went with me recently and helped negoiate a FTF purchase on a Smith. She's a blessing to me.

I sale or trade to get what I want, I've had lots and lots of guns just not at the same time. just traded for a 24-6 3'' barrel 44 spl very cool!! but the older I get the harder I find it to get rid of them, don't pay much attention to the wife, been thinking about a trading her in for another one, but that seems like alot of trouble, maybe I'll just keep her, gettin kind of use to her after 42 years!

Evening, Mike,
You are blessed, indeed, and I, by God's Grace, get to share the same blessings! My lovely spouse of 31 very happy years of marriage, has never given my even a tiny bit of grief about my buying guns, or anything else, for that matter. As long as we have enough coin to pay our bills, help someone in need, and put some away for a rainy day, I can purchase whatever I want, guns included! She has that same leeway. Works like a charm, actually. I am thankful to God that I married such a fine woman, and in all our years of marriage, she is still my most trusted friend, and strongest supporter. It doesn't get any better than that, and I am thankful, indeed for that huge blessing in my life!! Congrats to you, Sir, for having the wherewithal to enjoy those same types of blessings! Take care, and God Bless!
Every Good Wish,
Doc
P.S. Sweet Bride (my wife) has plenty of guns of her own, and loves to shoot, most especially her .50 caliber Lancaster flintlock rifle. What a woman and what a wife!!

That's what lay-away is for
My wife is cut from just about the same fabric. I got her convinced that I only have three revolvers and change the accessory colors every once in a while. I'm afraid that she will get to looking a bit too close and bust me if she notices the different barrel lengths. She's convinced that there is no rational reason to have so many ("3") guns. I tell her that guns are like underwear - have to have a few extras for when they get dirty!
By the way - she does NOT have the combination to the safe.

I use buying a gun as a theroputic (sp) exercise. When I buy one I feel so much better even though I probably won't have time to shoot it, it calms me. I have a slush fund for emergencies that can't reach below a certain level before all buying is off. Just recently my wife left to go hunting with her brother and my son. Being the codependant person I am this stressed me out beyond belief. So I bought another 6" 686 "I got a great deal on" $445 otd. It was a great feeling the whole drive home. I knew that when I got home I could fondle and handle it then hide it in the safe with no chance of getting caught. Note to self don't put off putting the gun up in the safe she doesn't have the combo to not on top of the fridge where she can find it the next day because you forgot to put it up the next morning!!! Not a good move. Good thing I have the ability to lose them amongst the forrest with the rest of the trees. My point to you is life is too short to be stressed about a gun buy. My buys are doing much better than the stock market. Buy em clean em, and shoot/put them up no more stress repeat as neccessary. Good luck! Doeboy

Well?...All I can say is I do sympathize with ya' OP...
Usually..I cannot afford a new gun...but then I borrow the money from my wife and get it anyhow.
I've found that if I carefully explain why I need something..really isn't a problem wheedling her out of some cash.

My wife says I can buy as many guns as I want, just as long as she gets to shoot them too.
I am a very lucky man
