Considering a snub S&W PC 629
Either the PC 2 1/2 inch with non-fluted cylinder or the 3 inch 629, standard fluted cylinder. I am feeling a bit more interested in the 2.5 inch.
Primary purpose will be outdoors, hiking, camping & general open carry when I feel like it. any opinions?
I currently own a 29-10 & a 629-6. Just looking for something fun to shoot that fits the snubbie category & more ease of carry. Thnx.

I like my 3" but had to put rubber grips on and down load a little to make it fun to shoot more than 6 rounds, I think a 2.5" would be a little short. JMHO might find someplace to rent one and try it out though.

I have a 2-1/2" M329NG & a 2-3/4" M69 as my 44 Mag snubbies. I've previously looked at the 629PC but it's pretty heavy.
The NG is fun but the M69 is A LOT of fun. The M69 would be smaller & lighter (34oz.) than either you mentioned (better for carry) but is very accurate & handles recoil surprisingly well. Just another possible idea to consider.

I did not know they made a 2 3/4 inch 69...that looks like a distinct possibility. I'll check it out. Thnx,

I've been eyeing those 2 3/4" M69's for a while.

I'm considering buying one this year to add to my 629 collection.

I had the same dilemma, ended up with the 629-6 3” deluxe. feels well balanced in hand and looks classy but trigger was concrete heavy, front sight base uneven and sight blade canted. All fixable but my 500 from the PC was immaculate. Only one example but the PC model likely will have the edge on fit and finish.
Hear lots of good things about the 69, ball detent lockup and lower bore axis, by and large everyone seems to agree it’s not bad to shoot. The examples I’ve handled seem well built.

I can't see a 44 Magnum snubby myself, but if that's what you want, why not go for the Model 69? If the object is to reduce bulk, then getting an N-frame with a 3" or less barrel seems to me to be at least somewhat self-defeating.
I think you'd be better off with the Model 69

My vote would also be for the Model 69.I only have the 4.25" bbl.but I prefer it to the N frames for carry and recoil is not bad w/mag. and a pleasure w/spl.

I like my 3” 629 for occasional ccw or backpacking duties.

Thanks, they’re the factory original combats. I found it with the box and all the goodies.

I couldn't decide either, so I got one of each. I like mine with fixed sights for the short barreled guns.
Three inch is a 629-3 Performance Center Lew Horton Mag Comp (also called Carry Comp)
2.5 inch is a 629-6 Camfour gun

Lottsa good choices it seems. Leaning more towards the 69 at this point...not in a huge rush though so gonna let it percolate.
