Default smith&wesson grip company???

guys,
i pulled a set of grips off a gun today.they were beatifull dark rosewood finger groove combat grips.i thought they were eagle grips. they are round butt fingergroove.on the inside was stamped SMITH WESSON GRIP COMPANY.i called sw and the cs rep had heard that at one time smith wesson had a person making these grips at the sw factory, back in the 90's.these grips have no sw medallion, but were made by the sw company
she said these were usually for a special order gun,or a performance center gun.
any advice or help on the history of the smith wesson grip company would be appreciated
