I picked-up this nearly unfired 60-7 a couple of weeks back. Replaced the ugly stock rubber grips with wood and my only T-Grip.

Traded in a 642-1 with the 1 7/8ths tube that I couldn't shoot worth a **** for some reason for this 642-2 with the 2 1/2 inch tube.
This one actually hits POA with most loads and the pinned black ramp front sight is much easier to see.

I got into a discussion on another board about steel framed vs tupperware guns. The other guy extolled the virtues of polymer as being tuff, light weight and durable. My main point was heirloom quality and beauty. This thread makes my case perfectly.

Yes it does, you're point went right over his head! Just plain shooters just are not tuned into the collecting, traditions, cratsmanship, etc., of the "gun" as an art form! It's a foriegn language they don't get and never will; they just don't have the genes. It's just a tool to them. But that's OK too, less competition for the "good stuff".

Picked this Model 38 up today for $250, it's a bit worn but it has character so I couldn't pass it up.

Yes, I had it installed by Matt @The Revolver Armorer in Suffolk a couple of years ago when he also did an action job & cylinder chamfer. He did a great job and it's one of my favorite carry guns.

You did fine on your purchase. My Model 38 no dash ran me $299.99 and I was glad to get it at that price. The Model 38 and Model 49 are getting hard to come by, especially at a decent price. By the way, what kind of grips do you have on your 38?

Best regards,

Dave

442-2, 642-1, 43C & 37-2. All no-locks.

I may have to let go of the 37 as I prefer centennials.

My "new" 1982 nickel-plated Model 37 (no dash). I traded a KelTec P32 w/2 magazines, a nylon pocket holster, and a Fobus paddle holster for it. I put the Hogue Bantam Grip on it.

Top one is her's. At least my girls like the 'skinny' grip shape.

Hondo....I can understand that would be "rational thinking" for a normal small-handed shooter.....but my wife is not rational. She is very fashion conscious and realized right off the bat there was a BIG difference in the looks of the guns. To her...in her mind...the one with the boot-grips looked more expensive. Every time I take it to clean it for her....she follows me around to make sure I don't swap grips. I think if I swapped the grips on the guns she would not notice. She follows the grips. The "skinny" handled 317 is mine.

My pre lock 317 and my no lock 642.
The plug is .200 diameter stainless .135 long with a small
v groove centered at .085. It is very simple and uses the
existing retaining parts.

Default 36-1 Target

I just got a 36-1 very similar. 3" HB but with square butt and target sights. A lot more "tacos" though. Your's was a good deal!

S&W Model 36-1,38 Special,3in.barrel,Adj.Sights : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

I saw it today. It was suppossed to be unfired and it leaves no doubt that it's unfired. It's truly 100%, no cylinder ring at all, but no box...
I don't know how it even could have been test fired at the factory. More pics when I get it home and out of 'quarantine'.

On mine the bluing was near perfect. The slightest of turn lines. Grips are about average for the age 1981 & serialed to the gun. Rusty & dry inside. Considering the grips & the action, I might believe this gun was reblued. But, there was a ton of gunk built up under the grips, so I don't really know.

Can't tell for sure from photos but I don't see anything to make me think it's reblued especially since the case colors on the hammer and trigger show no wear that I can see.

Mine is wearing a new set of Altamont grips. Wonderful quality and they feel great in the hand.
