629 year of manufacture?

Hi all,

I just picked up a S&W model 629, 6 inch barrel Serial # AUY50XX. Any idea as to year of manufacture?

Welcome to the forum. The big book doesn't list AUY prefix but looks to fall in the 1986-87 range. If it came with the box there's a spec order # with a Julian date telling you the exact day it left the factory. Enjoy your new gun and possible addiction.
