That's every bit the way I feel about this forum so I'm resurrecting an older thread to share a special rig. A cowboy named Andy--somewhere in his late 70s or so--ran the Longhorn Saddle Shop while I was attending the University of Wyoming (post Air Force). He measured and made this rig for me. For many years he also made the white leather outfits worn by the ladies of the Cheyenne Frontier Days. Andy's gone now (RIP), but his memory lives on for those of us lucky enough to have a piece of his work.

His last name was Hysong. I spent quite a bit of time in his shop in West Laramie back when I was a Laramie cop and Highway Patrolman.

Yip, that was him. Sort of thought you might have been acquainted. Terrific gentleman. Always loved the leather smell in his shop and admired all those old stirrups he had hanging everywhere. I picked up an old pair of fringed chinks from him that had belonged to a rancher from sw of Laramie. They're battle tested and still in great shape.
I wore Andy's rig most of the day today, stomping around the hills with the pooches.
