Model 60 ID help please..
Found this little thing at a garage sale today. It's marked model 60, with no dash, and a 1 7/8 inch barrel. It has a triple alpha serial prefix of BAA, which should be around 1989. It also has a bobbed hammer, with a hammer mounted firing pin. By looking thru the number 4 book, page 261 on the left side of the picture, it might be a product code 102314. Wondering if I am correct since mine is a 1 7/8 inch, and not a 2 inch barrel. Also, there is not a dash variation putting it around 1988. Thinking it should be a dash 3. Or is it possible that the hammer was bobbed after it left the factory?

All "2 inch" model 60s are 1 7/8".
This is a late "no-dash". In 1988-'89 the model 60 was replaced by the -3. There was a production run of both 2 and 3" DAO 60-3s without hammer spurs but this is not one of them.
The spurless hammer does not have a factory appearance to it, but it may have been original to the gun and altered/polished.

So it went from 60, to 60-3? Since I don't have any factory spurless guns, what should it look like?

This is an image of a presumed factory DAO 60-3. Note how the hammer near the former site of the spur is convex to the back, and the satin chromed hammer and trigger.

I never find guns at garage sales. Maybe that's because I don't go to garage sales.
Nice snubbie. Contrats.

I was thinking it wasn't factory, but wasn't sure. But either way, the gun, along with 275 rounds of ammo and a few other things for $400 wasn't a bad purchase. Thanks for the info.

Maybe I missed it, but is this a true DAO revolver or will the hammer catch on the full-cock notch for single action firing?

Great "CATCH". I just pulled the trigger enough to get a hold of the hammer to pull it back, and there is no catch on the hammer when it is full to the rear.

I'd say!
Considering you got about $200 in ammo alone that was an awesome deal.
