19-5 Secret Service unfired
Would like to share a 19-5 USSS #965, that I recently acquired. On right side barrel reads, US Secret Service 1865-1965. Perfect condition and never fired. Has original blue velvet lined case. Anyone have experience with this one?

I love it, but I know myself well enough to know that after getting it home I would HAVE to shoot it....I am glad that folks other than me buy those and keep them for posterity.....I would probably make a truck gun out of it.....

I'm with ya Sheriff. Cannot help not shooting my S&W's. Bought a NIB 19-3, 2.5" snubs a 3 or so years ago and ended up packing it for a couple as my Harley Davidson weapon in a Alessi shoulder holster, then swapped back to a 1911 Colt Commander as I'm a 1911 guy. Friends gave me all kinds of **** for doing it but took excellent care of it and it still looks almost as good as the day I opened the box. Just couldn't help doing it after fondling it for a few months all lonely in the safe .

I personally am not a fan of marked guns, but I might make an exception for that one. That's a pretty cool M19!

Very nice, I'd have to shoot it if it was mine (easy to say LOL!). According to SCSW approx. 2000 made in 1981, sequentially numbered starting as yours "USSS ....". Available to current or retired employees at time of issue.
Enjoy, hard to beat a pristine 19.

You have a great find there Congratulations. !!!!
I like a few others on this thread would have a tough time not firing that
gorgeous S&W specimen.
Personally If I owned it and it is safe to shoot then shoot away.
What ever I own, I need to shoot
Did I say CONGRATULATIONS do as you wish and do NOT let anyone
influence you

If I get the urge to fire it, no problem for me. I don't collect revolvers for the dollar value of them. But simply for the enjoyment they bring to me and now my grandchildren. That's what it's all about. Thanks for all the comments. keith

The USSS agents carried a Model 19 with a 2.5" barrel. The USSS Uniformed Division carried a Model 15 with a 4" barrel. Periodically these commemorative guns would be offered at pretty good prices for current and retired members.
It would be nice to track down a few of the thousands of the 15/19 revolvers the USSS sold off when they transitioned to the SIG Sauer pistols. The actual duty guns were not offered for purchase to employees in the mid 1990s.
Anyone here have any idea where those revolvers went?

I doubt this was an issued firearm....probably a retirement gun or special award presented to someone, hence the special markings and presentation case.

Great looking gun. Like many of the others I would shoot it - who is more special than oneself?
