Ok does anyone have one of these. Are they a good revolver. I looking at getting a 4" nickel. How is the nickel finish? Will it be durable? This will bought to carry and shoot not to sit in a safe.

I have carried a 4" Nickle Mod 29-2 4" as a duty gun for a few years, my partner carried one just like mine, and I hunted deer with a 6 1/2" Nickle Mod 29-2. The Nickle finish held up great, no problems.

I like S&W Nickle guns.

I had 2 Mod 39's in Nickle that I shot and carried a bit as well, again no problems.

Well , if you're a .41 fan , they're certainly more affordable than a 'first generation' Mod.58 for a carrying gun. I don't think they will ever attain the collectability or desirability of the first ones either. Nickel doesn't take kindly to dents or dings. Never thought of nickel as being especially durable , more valued for it's rust resistance during the black powder days. Even sweat can make it ugly in short order.

I have a Model 58 and love it , but the sheer weight of it keeps me from carrying it. I think it's heavier than my Colt Combat Commander , let alone a full-size Govt Model.

My nickel Smith's from the early seventies still look great. They have been holstered/shot and toted much. Sweat/water has never bothered the finish on mine and unlike my blue guns of old the nickel ones don't show holster wear.
Early in my S&W accumillation carear (70's) all I would buy was nickel Smiths.........They have and still serve me well.

The 41 magnum became Elmer's favorite as he found it to be a flatter shooting round. Had one in my 20's and sold it to pay bills. 30 years later I find them when I have no money and when I do have money I can not find one.

I've got a blued 58-1 and it's a keeper. The finish is beautiful and the action is tight and smooth. It's accurate and shoots to point of aim. They are every bit as nice as the originals, and you can shoot the heck out of them and not worry about ruining the "collectability". I replaced the small factory grips with a set of Ahrend's, which made the grip better feeling for my hands.

I love the looks of the new Classic 58, I wish Smith would make a Classic 520 too........

I am becoming more and more of a fan of the new MIM and IL Smiths, I have 3 of them and they are great. My newest, a Model 66-7, is a tackdriver and has one of the slickest DA pulls I have ever felt.

Yea, I didn't want to start any blasphemy, but my new production N frames seem to have better lock-up and timing than my older guns.😱

I really like the fact that S&W has come out with classics. It gives you a chance to get some of the ones that got away.

I got 22-4 nickel 45acp and love it. I've always wanted one but couldn't ever find the original. The Classics solved that for me. I say go for it.
