One of these three is what works for me. I've also got a 629-PC Blood Work 8-shot .357...but the smaller lighter ones are easier to carry.

Ruger SP101

My model 66 with a Simply rugged sourdough pancake does me fine, although I have the 4 inch model.

Nothing against my 65 3", but the Ruger security six 2 3/4 is no slouch for packing some real deal SD load.

And you can fire as much hot .357 as your wallet can handle for practice.
