Talking Making Room In The Safe For A 24-3

I need a safe stretcher! Good problem, right? I guess I've been good enough this year 'cause Santy brought me an early present. I found this sweetheart hiding on GB among the $1200- $1400 6.5" 24-3s for several hundred less. No-one else bid so I brought it home. (You get lucky every now & then) The pics looked good so I figured on the usual muzzle & front of cylinder wear. Nope. Not a blemish. None. I looked under the top strap and saw no flame cutting, three very faint carbon rings on the cylinder face & very light cylinder turn ring. Shoot, it even had a yellowish (old) oil in the yoke/frame junction. Needless to say, I'm more than happy right now. It didn't even bother me when Hedley came in after wallering in cat poo.
The gun came with everything but the warranty card & cleaning kit. I reckon I'll add those later.
Thanks for letting me share guys.

No flame cutting.

Wear on recoil shield & cylinder almost non-existent.

Will I shoot it? I WAS. Now I'm trying to decide which way to go. I don't want to turn this into a shoot it / don't shoot it thread. I'll figure that out soon enough.
Merry Christmas y'all.

Oh, in case you're wondering, Hedley's feeling better after his bath.

Little Hedley knew not what he was doing but I will bet he thinks you should shoot and enjoy the gun as it was intended. JMHO.

Poor Hedley! I about fell out of the chair laughing! Not a very flattering photo. I hope he doesn’t see it. Ts Ts

That’s a great looking 6 inch 24-3 you’ve got there. Congratulations on grabbing that one.

Good job on a fine Smith! I can solve your safe size problem. Just send me some of your "overstock"! Always glad to lend a helping hand! Bob

I guess I'm lucky with Hedley. He only gets that wild hair once in awhile. Phew!
Now I have to sit back and be patient for a 4" barrel 24-3 & a 624. Those two ain't gettin no cheaper!

Just for comparison on pricing here's a 24-3 4" I picked up earlier this year. Unfired with all the goodies at 1050.00, not cheap but you won't find to many ANIB out there.

Good looking gun & not a bad price for NIB. Mine wasn't even advertised as NIB. I'd gladly settle for a mildly used with "character" 4"er. Soooo, did ya shoot yours??

ETA: I have a 3" 24-3 with "character" and have no qualms shootin' it up.

I bought a 24-3 3" Lew Horton and the 4" at the same time both ANIB. I just couldn't help myself with the 3" snub I just had to shoot it, the 4" remains unfired.

Very nice 24-3.
These are drying up fast..only made a couple years IIRC.
Put some new shoes on mine.
Near positive this was factory fired only.

I'm usually not a big fan of stags but those look like they belong on that gun. And you're right, only two years of production and just under 5000 made. Even less of the 3"ers. Mine ain't going nowhere soon.

That's beautiful 75Vette. I would make room for it too. Shoot it ! Skeeter is watching and wants all owners of the Model 24-3's to enjoy them.
