Will these shoot in my new 29 44mag classic 4"barrel?

Garrett's 44 Mag plus 330-gr Super Hard Cast Long Hammerhead at 1400-fps

If it's a factory 44 Magnum round-it should shoot. I wouldn't want to be holding onto the gun when it goes off.

They will for a while but she's not gonna like it. Be nice to your new smith, its a fine sixgun. Consider a 250gr bullet at 1300fps a maximum load and your gun will last forever which it won't shooting that +p+ stuff. Enjoy your new gun

NO the 330gr is not for the S&W's.
The 310gr is suitable for the S&W's. I have shot it in my guns and it is great ammo. His bullets are harder than another cast bullets I have used.

I do know it will shoot throught the skull, brain, and down into the neck of a Cape buffalo, and will penetrate to the brain, on a side head shot on a cow elephant out of a 4" Mod 629.

I have carried this load in Africa, and in Alaska, and Montana bear country.

Another NO for that load in a 29 or any other S&W revolver either for that particular load. I won't even use the hotter 310gr Hammerhead load from Garrett which actually can be used in a 44mag Smith revolver but I do think the Garrett Defender 310gr load is the very best bear defense load out there for the S&W 629 if you don't reload yourself. If you don't want to be buying another new gun stay away from the HOT Garrett load in your S&W. It states right on the Garrett Cartridge Companies web site that the load you are talking about is ONLY for the Ruger Redhawk, Ruger Super Redhawk and Tarus Raging Bull.

I think the Garrett 44 Mag loads are the best out there, followed by the Buffalo Bore, and Corbon loads.

However Randy Garrett told me himself, IF you cannot get any of MY loads for a particular trip, get some Federal 300gr Cast Core loads.

He said they are pretty good loads. They do not penetrate quite a deep as his loads but they are usually available locally.
IMHO the 300gr Federal load kicks less, well "hurts less" in a 4" Mountian gun or a 329 PD, than the factory 240gr loads from Winchester, Remington or Federal.

I'd definately advise against it. You'll shoot that 29 loose quickly. If you want that kind of power in a handgun buy a Ruger or Cassull (sp). They will eat about anything without worrying that you are going to blow that 29 up or putting it out of time prematurely.

Lots af good answers to your Q's here. Good luck and be safe.
