Default Big Hands - 60 vs. 686

A friend was talking about picking up a revolver for home defense and a little plinking. He and I are built about the same, 6' 2" and high 200#'s with hands the size of catchers mits. I told him my 686 suited me well but I knew of a shop with a used 60 I'd been looking at so went for a look see. The 60 has a hogue grip on it but doesn't fill the hand near as well as the 686. The shop had both models so he could compare and he too liked the 686 better. I have a J frame 38 but as a carry piece, the 60 really appeals to me. Is there some oversized grip option out there that would fit our mits better?

Several companies have larger J frame grips. They will make the gun less easy to conceal, if that makes a difference. Hogue, Uncle Mike's and Pachmayr all made/make rubber stocks that are close to K/L frame dimensions, and factory J frame Target or Combat stocks would be bigger also. Hope this is helpful.
