Question about a 586-7 L-Comp
I have two L-Comps, one is a 586-7, serial number BCH00XX and it has a 4" barrel. The other is a 586-5, serial number CLC01XX, with a 3" barrel. I know that the 3" dash 5 was made for Camfour in about 2000, but I can't run down when the 4" dash 7 was made or for whom. Does anyone know about the dash 7 and would you please share what you know with the forum? Thanks. Picture of both is below.

My 586 L-Comp is a -7 with a 3" barrel and 7 shot cylinder, it also has the IL. I've never heard of a 4" 586 L-Comp.

Your 4" 586-7 is one of the overun revolvers from the French GIGN guns.
The GIGN evaluated the 4" 586. IIRC 3 were produced with night sights and the GIGN heraldic and 75 to 125 of the rest of the run, were shipped to a distributor in Florida when the GIGN didn't place an order.
Very nice revolver! Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI

cpr,
I "lucked" into one of the few GIGN overrun 586 guns, this past summer.
It's a sweet, sweet shootin' gun.

Beautiful gun, love the 4" version.
I had a 3" version a few years back.

Mine is a PC gun, so marked on the left side of the barrel. Were all those sent to the distributor in Florida made by the PC or were only a few PC guns? If only a few were, how did they differ from the rest?

cpr,
To my knowledge, the 4 sent for French evaluation had the "GIGN" crest. The rest, all PC guns, were sans crest. I am ignorant as to the PC designation on those sent to France.

I own one of the GIGN guns. It is equipped with night sights and was delivered with two sets of Nill grips in a performance case.
The GIGN guns have serial numbers like FSF XXX.
Hope it might help.

I thought I would post a picture of one of the 4" GIGN barrels that was never installed on a revolver
