Give me a break! I had a classic S&W Christmas with a tapered 4" Model 10-5 SB and a no-dash 1⅞" Model 37 RB. My wife is tolerant, but...I like being married.
Later this year, my brother-in-law may want the Model 10-5 back, so I'll be on the lookout for another one. I also have a wish list that includes 2 2" Model 12 RBs. I just wish I could find some for less than $450.00-$500.00. Then there is the 3" Colt Detective Special that I have always wanted.
So, we'll see what comes around first.

Still on a binge...
I bought 3 guns in December and yesterday, Jan 2nd, I bought a Ruger 22/45 target pistol for the family. But... tomorrow I pick up my... S&W 500 6.5"! I wanted either the 6.5" or the 8 3/8" w/ Hi-Viz sight. I really like the 6.5 with the 1/2 lug. So I told the dealer I have been using.. "which ever he comes up with 1st" Today he called and said that the 6.5 would be in tomorrow.
I do hunt but this is really for the "awesome gun" factor.

My first of 2012 is not a Smith! I've been eying the SIG P238 .380's for over a year. My LGS had a Rainbow Titanium one with Siglite night sights in "used" condition. One mag fired and traded on a Colt Defender. I've tried every way possible to carry one of my J frames for EDC, however my "physique" always seems to reveal or make revolvers very uncomfortable to carry without cover garments.
Ran 60 rounds through it yesterday on the way home from the LGS. Must say it is the only sub-compact .380 I've ever shot that is FUN to shoot. Just like a mini 1911. Definitely my new EDC piece.

I have been working on a trade with a guy, he was offering a very nice, genuine, real deal 1886 Winchester for a rifle I was listing. I told him it was a very nice offer and I would put him at the top of the list. Today he answers back with "If you want to put something together today I'll throw in a 5-screw K-22" I called him back and said put the guns in the car and I'll meet ya. Has to be the best gun deal day of my life, can't imagine it ever getting better than this...I'm still high. The K-22 is a '53 model, very nice condition, somewhere along the line someone installed a gold bead front sight which I must say sheds a better light on target aquisition, along with the trigger shoe. May have trouble sleeping tonight, great start to the year. Now if I can just work out the other deal on the Outdoorsman...I'll be in heaven.

Mine turned out to be a S&W Model 638......
Tonight's front sight paintin' night!!
Edited to Add: Since I posted this, the sight's been painted, BK Grip Adapters installed
and it's had approx 150 rounds down the pipe. It's now a member of "The Stable".
One thing I noticed was that the fired cartridge that came with it was dated 05-20-11.
I've purchased used S&W's that were newer than that. Oh yeah, it came in a cardboard box.

Congrats, that's a great way to start the new year. I had been looking for a blue full lug model 29, and to think it shipped out an hour away from my Louisiana address it is an absolutely stunning piece

First firearm of the year, 1-2-2012 is a 29-3 blued 8 3/8" in box with papers. I would say 95% condition. Joint purchase of my son and I, and only our third s+w.

Model 57, but not what you think
I just picked up this magnificent beast from my dealer:
It's an RG in .44 Magnum! I had been searching Gunbroker for a S&W Model 57 (in .41 Magnum) with an 8-3/8 barrel and came across this. I had no idea they made such a thing and when I saw it, I had to have it. Oddly I was the only bidder.
I remember back in the day when RGs were being sold, that it was said that it stood for "Rotten Gun". I had seen the ubiquitous shabby .22s, and a number of equally nasty .38s but had no idea that they had stepped up to .44 Mag level. After taking a look at it, it's actually surprisingly well made (considering). The seller said that he had shot about 60 factory loads through it but I guess he's braver than I am. Even though it looks pretty good I think I'll stick to .44 Special when and if I ever get around to firing it.
Oh, and the serial number is 10000. A collector's item!
Happy new year, and back to the hunt for a long tube S&W Model 57.

I hit a semi local gunshop on the 2d. They had a 340 M&P w/Loc that I was pretty interested in working a trade on.
Ended up doing the trade on an LCR 22 and an LCR 357 instead. I ordered an XS 24/7 front sight for the 357, should be in probably today. The LCR 22 may not get a night sight due to a different front sight height. These are my first small Rugers since my SP101 9mm probably 15 or so years ago.
Just before the end of the year I hauled home a 66 No Dash 2-1/2" that was nearly new. It had been fired, but looked to have never been in a holster. No box or papers for $600.
I had been wanting a 43C and a 340 M&P. Guess I ended up with the Ruger version of them.
Bob

Went in looking to add a G21 or 1911 to the stable and came out with this. Couldn't pass up it being under 4 bills.

I carried home a 640 Pro Series today along with a Looper Leather 2 slot pancake holster. Nice set up. It may take the place of my regular EDC which is a Kimber Ultra Eclipse in a Looper Leather Hybrid. This is a lot lighter!

A pot metal RG in .44 mag! OMG!
I would have bought it, too. If only for the curiosity value.
As to actually shooting it...I'd suggest light target load .44 wad cutters, gloves, a full face shield, and body armor.

617 6 inch
I picked up a 617 6 inch barrel that I ordered back in October. I thought it would complement my 686 6 inch barrel that I simply love to shoot.

Went with a friend to a little (100 ft2) gunshop tucked into the back of a saddle/harness shop.
Came away with a 4" 1971 Model 10-5 as new, in its box, with unopened cleaning tools and papers still in their cellophane sleeve. Only thing missing was the S&W VCI wax paper sheet. Original price on the box was $85.00!
Almost broke my wrist getting my checkbook out.
Wasn't cheap, however. I had to pony up $360.
I'll image it in the AM and post to the appropriate forum.

I bought this 28-2 (1972 vintage) because it had diamond grips that I needed for my 25 no dash. Did a grip swap last night, and now both guns should have the correct grips.

My first gun of the year was a two tone Sig 239 in 9mm, dehorned with night sights and Bianchi minimalist holster. Also 800 rounds of S&B ammo to break it in with. This is my new favorite carry gun.

As stated earlier in this thread, I've been looking for a nice 586 no dash. But just found and purchased this beautiful 19-3 w/ 2.5" barrel. First snubby, but won't be the last!!
