Default 38 Special 64-3 Value

What would be a reasonable price for a 38 special 64-3 that has never been fired or holstered. It is just like new and belongs to a collector. Would $ 500.00 be reasonable? Thanks!

So a pinned barrel would be worth more? I just bought a nice 64-5, so I don't really need another revolver. Plus my wife would kill me! The 64-3 is on gun broker.

It sold, so someone also thought it was worth $500.00.

I bought this S&W 64 last week for less than the one you mentioned. This one did not have a box or papers. It is a no dash model with a pinned, tapered barrel, stocks number to the gun. I was pretty happy to find it, as no one can own too many fixed sight K frames.

Default 64-2

I was lucky enough to recently purchase a 64-2 with 2" pinned barrel with box and original papers and cleaning tool. Serial places it as 1979. Not sure it its the original box though. Appears 95%+ with low round count. Shoots great! $400. I think I got a good deal.

There is a very nice 4" Model 64 square butt at nearby pawn shop. It is almost new with no box. Pinned gun. It has been there a long time at $350. It is almost impossible to sell a 4" square butt K frame around here.

I have about $400 into mine after shipping and ffl transfer. It is a 64-5. It is my very first revolver. I shot it tonight and I really love it. Wish I would of bought one sooner! I tried to tell the wife I needed another but she said no!

I paid a good bit less for this S&W 64-2 a little over two years ago.

I figured I could afford to dress it up a bit with these Grashorn elk stag stocks.

A year ago I had a 64-3 shipped from Boston to a FFL here, looked to be 90% or better, no box or papers, my end cost was $355.

I just bought a 64-3 3 inch bbl, it's in like new condition. After giving it a good look over, I noticed that unlike others I've seen, the front sight is pinned on, rather than integral. Any thoughts?

I've got a Model 64-3 like yours, but mine has been "gently used", and I've had mine for several years. It also has a pinned front sight, and I experimented with removing it and replacing it with a fiber optic sight. The fiber optic sight looks good, but it resulted in a point of impact very far below the point of aim. Sigh, the fiber optic goes back into the parts box, and the original front sight goes back on the piece. As Forest Gump would say: "...and that's all I have to say about that".

Regards,

Dave

I think a 4" 65 would top out around $400 in this area.......nice guns but nothing special and only a .38.
