Default 625-2 and Combat Grips Opinion

I had a 625-2 Model of 1988 and combat grips offered to me and was looking for opinions about the turn line on the 625-2 which looks heavy to me. I have not looked at the revolver. I know the guy selling it is honest and he says it's in excellent condition. There's no box but there are some moon clips. I think I know the value on this but go ahead and throw out some opinions on value along with the turn line.

My other question involves the wood combat grips. They have a S&W logo. I cannot find much information on these grips. What are they? What are they worth? Are they common or uncommon?

Thanks,

John

The combat stocks in your image are aftermarket (Altamont?) products.
The $$$$ combats are the original S&W made goncalo alves wood ones.
I've tried all sorts of grips and settled on the new S&W 629 ones an the best fit for my hands.

Cannot shoot with the Hogue product, its just wrong for my hands.
625s are great competition revolvers and many have seen lots of use.
Not necessarily a bad thing as these are really tough revolvers.
Mine sure have.
You should, of course, do the usual due diligence revolver checks before buying.

Agreed that they look like Altamonts. Is there a large N routered into the inside of the grip?

I sold a pair of N frame Alta's for $50 on the forum a few years ago. I hated them from a shooting perspective - much prefer the typical rubber.
