Default First time shooting 14-3

Went to range and all I had was some 158 grn FMJ commercial reloads. First picture is about 16 yards and the other two are at 30 yards. Trying to shoot with my trifocals didn't work well so just used saftey glasses. At 30 yards all I can see is a very fuzzy gob of orange.

I can't seem to figure out how to post more than one picture.

LOVE those model 14's. My grandfather gave me a pre-34 Kit Gun, brand new, when I was only 9 years old (1958). I still shoot and treasure that gun today. However, my first Smith purchase was in 1969 when I secured a new model 14 in 6" for $100. I immediately began to reload for it.

Since then, have amassed an almost shameful number of the 14 in both barrel lengths and at least one of them goes with me to punch paper, cans, or marshmellows on each shooting session. The 14 is one of two Smiths I have rolled cans with at 75 yards with eyes that are 7 decades old.

Probably not telling you anything, but in studying your groups at those 2 distances, I would turn the windage screw 2 clicks clockwise and shoot again. That should center your excellent groups about right.

NICE SHOOTING and enjoy one of the finest target revolvers ever made.

Take care, Bo

I forgot to take my screwdrivers with me. Also this is the first time this gun has been shot since factory. I'm going to put some loads together this week if I have time and try it out. I see with the 8" barrel I'm going to have to put a spot of paint on the front sight as well.
