Default 629 holster / red dot help needed.

New 629 / 6 inch, owner needs advice. I am looking for a shoulder holster for deer hunting in Indiana- cold. My first thought is a shoulder rig with the gun under the arm vertically. Any suggestions on make and size?
Any other suggestions if you think another design is better?

Also I am thinking red dot. Can you suggest models that hold up to 44 mag hunting loads. All price levels would be appreciated.

I would expect a dot might change holster options.....

I can suggest, without reservation, the Bianchi Hush System for across the chest carry. I carry a Smith Model 29 with 8 3/8" barrel and a scope as well as a Ruger Red Hawk 7½" with scope in the same holster. It is extremely comfortable (far more comfortable than a vertical shoulder holster) and is quickly adjustable to change from light clothing to heavy clothing. I also got the optional flap for full protection from bad weather and brush. I use a Ranger belt to secure the bottom of the holster and carry my ammo on using a belt slide (also Ranger).

Model 4101  Ranger™ HuSH™ System - Scoped Bianchi Leather Holsters

I further suggest the Ultra Dot as being a VERY sturdy red dot sight that will give you NO problems with recoil (the .44 Magnum will beat some Red Dots into junk in short order). The ultra dot will hold up to the "heavy hitters" like the .454 Casull and even heavier.

Good hunting!

The Aimpoint Micro H1 is pricey, but probably the most bombproof, H20 proof, etc. among your choices.

Ive also used the Ultra Dot for years and never had a problem, probably the best red dot for the money. Ive been using Uncle Mikes Badelero holster when I hunt and love it.

Dale53, @ years after your post, I too have a 629 PC Light Hunter and SBH Hunter and was leaning towards the Bianchi Hush System. I contacted their CS and was told they didn't make a model to fit my specific guns. I wasn't convinced of their reply. What size of the 4101 did you get? Thanks
