Does anyone carry 686 in pocket?
I have a 2 1/2" in my front pocket as I write and in a blackhawk #4 and wonder does anyone make a leather holster for carry with the 686? Thought it would be to big but feels comfortable in my wranglers. Have seen leather for j models.

Dude you must be the baddest azz in the valley! How do you keep your pants up? A J frame in the pocket is enough for me.

I gotta second DA's thoughts, it seems to big to me for that, it's almost commander sized.

How in the heck do you get a 686 into the pocket of a pair of Wranglers anyway?

One of my buddies carries one and never complains, but he is a BIG dude (tall and rotund). I'm 5'9" with a 32 waist and I can't carry a J-frame in my pocket - not even the light weight scandium J-frames. It all depends on your body build, how tight you like to wear your belt, how big your pockets are, and how heavy a brick you can carry comfortably in your pocket. But for almost all, a 686 is not a pocket pistol. Other than that, it's a darn good gun.

I have pocket carried a 2.5" M686 & 2.5" M66, not at the same time although it might
have balanced me out, and not as a regular carry method.
I also don't see how you could get them in the pocket of, normal fitting, Wranglers Jeans.
I had a hard enough time getting them in the pocket of Eotac jeans and you can carry
a small dog in one of those pockets.
Having enough room to get that much gun to fit in a pocket can be a double edged sword.
In my case having pant legs that loose meant that when walking the gun(s) were
flopping up & down off of my leg and back & forth with every step.
I was carrying both models listed above in Mika Pocket Holsters.
Below you will see the M66 in a Mika Pocket Holster.
For me the size issue paled in comparison to the weight factor, especially on the 686.

I am a rather large guy and carry my 2.5" 686 or my 629 with a pencil barrel, when I wear my cutoffs. The pockets are very large and in Texas summers, the less I wear the better I suffer the heat.

I can see how you earned your nickname, "tug."

I pocket carried a 2" Model 64 in a Mika one summer. It's really not that bad but you do need a good belt.

wow had no idea it was going to generate this much talk. I think the large Mika is what I am looking for. This is my pistol and the butt sticks out a little and I just wear a long shirt tail hanging over it.
I do wear a nice thick gun belt and was carrying a J frame 60-14. I do notice a little difference but not that much and feel better armed with 7 357 instead of 5. Just regular Wrangler relaxed fit jeans. The holder I am using now is Uncle Mike Sidekick size 4. Where to get the Mika?

Here's the link
Pocket Holster - Mika's Pocket Holsters
64tinc, you can expect two things, other than a nice Pocket Holster, first, Robert should call
you the day after you place your order and secondly, it usually takes about two weeks to get one.

I'll say in advance: I'm just kidding...
So - do your pants sag down with, like, half your posterior/boxers visible? Because I could totally see how you could carry a 686 in your pocket if your jeans were that loose. But, of course, it would cause problems when you're rapping and break dancing or whatever.
again; JUST KIDDING

I've got a custom made pocket holster that holds a L or N frame revolver with a 4" barrel. With the proper boot type grips, both hide very well.

NO my pants do not sag. Can not stand that nonsense. No rap zone here. I would like the information on your custom pocket holster time is not a problem I have some place to go for a few weeks. In my pocket all day so far no problem.

I bought a 686 Plus with a 2 1/2" barrel for front pocket carry. Didn't work well for me, so I went back to a J frame. Sold the gun to a guy that wanted it for pocket carry while riding his Harley. Worked well for him.

I've done it with my 2.5" before, without a holster, but that is one bulky and weighty pistola to pocket carry . I had a ladyfriend sew up a canvas "pocket" for it because it was pretty apparent that it would wear through even Wrangler jeans pockets in quick order. I prefer the Ruger SP101 DAO if I'm gonna go that way; some folks think even they are heavy! I use a DeSantis Nemesis for it. I don't know if a 686 will fit or not.
edit/BTW, I found that Ahrends smooth RB grips worked pretty well for pocket carrying the 686.

Thumbs up on the Mika.
Got one to carry my J frames. That guy is a class act and his pocket holsters are top of the line!
Personally, I couldn't carry an L frame in my pocket but if I could I'd opt for a Mika.

I guess my concern is more towards how quickly one could get into action , if needed, from a pair of Wranglers while seated and carrying a gun of this physical size?
Just a thought.
Regards
Bill
