Default What do you feed your 627PC snubnose?

Just curious... those of you who own a "Bloodwork" gun (and shoot it regularly), what do you like for range fun and what do you like for self defense in your home?

Thanks in advance.

I took mine to the range yesterday, second time out since new.

I put 250 rounds of 158grain factory Magnums, jacketed, through it first and finished with another 150 or so rounds of 158 grain .38+P, also jacketed. This was about what I did the first time out also.

On a side note, I was the lone ,revolver, ranger at the range, sandwiched between all the sliders.
One of the guys asked about the cylinder, when I was reloading, he couldn't believe they made a 'six shooter' that actually shoots eight. He also couldnt believe how it carved out the ring of my target, set at 30 feet, with such a short barrel. What could I say, these guys were all punching the four corners of the paper, at 15 feet!
I felt sorry for them and a bit guilty at the quality of this PC 627, MIM and IL included.

Can't comment on home defense as I don't use this one for that.

I use 158 gr JSP .357 Magnums and 125 gr JSP .38 Special +P in my "Blookwork" UDR. Finally got the PC grips SKU: 414170000 shoots and feels great.

.357 Magnum Winchester PDX1 125gr BJHP or .357 Magnum Federal LE Tactical Hydra-Shok 158gr HP defensive loads.

.357 Magnum Federal American Eagle 158gr JSP at the range.

Thank you for the replies.

I was web surfing and see that Midway has Rem. .357 Golden Saber 125 gr. for only $16.19 (25 rounds/box). As far as I can tell, the round is loaded on the mild side (1220 fps - 413 ft. lb. out of a 4" barrel) yet it is reputed to have excellent penetration. The mild loading should make it a tame round out of the 627 PC snubby, and without the worry of flame undercutting the top strap or of forcing cone damage.

That price is hard to beat, so I ordered me a bunch. Sale is good through the end of the month for anyone interested.

Well, I bought a second PC627 UDR supposedly as a home defender. Right. Too much fun at the range!

All of my revolvers have speedloaders and moonclips loaded with what I feel is appropriate for use in and around my home. For .38 & .357 Magnum revolvers, that means the Remington R38S12 158gr LHPSWC .38 Special +P load. My 627 Pro and UDR alike have such fare at the ready:

For plinking, I make up 125gr Montana Gold JHPs in .38 Special cases. They make 900 fps from a 4" 64. Why do I have .357 Magnum revolvers if all I shoot are .38s? Ever see a seven or eight shot .38? YMMV.
