Default 9mm 986 7 shot

I've been wanting a 9mm revolver for a while.

Looks like this might be a better choice than the new n frame version.

L frame, 9mm, 7 shot, Ti cylinder, 35 oz, 5"

It look great! But, for Steel Challenge I think I'm going to hold out for the 8 shot N frame. I need all the help I can get. (8 shots instead of 7)

Why is the L-frame a better choice for you?

Personally I am n N-frame person, but I would like to hear your insight.

I plan on shooting both tomorrow.

Well I like N frames too -- and have more of them than K or L frames.

But, in this case, I like the 5" barrel on the 986 better than the 6.5" on the 929.

I'm also don't see much point on porting in a 9mm revolver.

And the 986 is nearly 10 oz lighter.

N frames fit my fairly small hands better.

And finally I haven't made up my mind yet .

And it's a moot point for now because I live in California and so far neither has shown up on the approved handguns roster so I can't order either.
