Default Brazil 586 (38 spl) question

I recently acquired a S&W 586 with a 2 1/2 in barrel that is chambered only for 38spl. It is part of a group that were a special order from the Brazil government (I think --- correct me if I am wrong). The one that I just got has after market grips on it. Can anyone tell me what grips were supposed to be on this model? I have seen 2 like it that have been listed on auction sites in the past couple months. One had S&W finger groove grips & the other had regular grips Any help is greatly appreciated.

Chris

Nice catch on a rare S&W!
Checking my SCSW reveals that your 586 was likely issued with goncalo alves target stocks.
200 were shipped to Brazil, 23 to U.S. distributors.
My understanding that these were for civilian use in Brazil, where civilians are prohibited from possessing "magnum" weapons.

Now..

Show us the pictures, or it didn't happen!

The 6" version I have came with the correct markings on the plastic case and looked virtually un-fired. The stocks on it were the Hogue rubber "round to square" and no others were included with the box/case.

To the OP, I'm still looking for a 4" in case you decide you would rather have the versatility of a real 357!

Default pics & correction

Thanks for the response everyone. I don't know what I was thinking about when I made the post. I originally stated that it had a 4 in barrel. That is wrong. It has a 2 1/2 in barrel. Here are a couple pics. Sorry for the screw-up.

I have a 6 inch version of the Brazil contract model 586. It has grips very similar to those pictured on this 2.5 inch version.
