Finally decided
Well, after doing a lot of reading and trying to ask intelligent questions in the S & W forums, I decided on a new personal protection pistol today. It came down to three candidates: a S&W 686 in the .357 with a three inch barrel, a Ruger LCR .38SP, and a S&W model 64 in a four inch barrel that had been refurbished by S&W after being returned by a police department.
I loaded all three with wadcutter 148grain 38SP rounds.
I preferred all three in their recoil effect to my present S&W Bodyguard, but was surprised to find that I liked the model 64 best. It won't be so easy to conceal as the others, but I am more comfortable shooting with it.
Thanks to everyone who provided me with information and helped me come to a decision.

I don't carry myself, but for shooting accuracy, I do much better with a 4" K, or L frame. I had a 65-3, 3" that I traded for a 4" 586. I probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that Ruger! 64's are accurate, and dependable. Bob
