My J Frame Addiction
Hi, my name is Steve and I'm a J Frame addict...
The bottom two followed me home this week (I've already posted the 3" tapered Bbl. I had mentioned trying to post a photo of the 3" HB today and thought I'd just break all the J Frames out for a group photo.

Top to bottom:
Mod. 60 (post 1980)
Mod. 642 Airweight (~2005)
Mod. 36 2" bbl., SN 715XXX (can someone give me date of manufacture for this one?)
Mod. 36 3" HB round butt, SN J858XXX (would love to have approximate mfr date for this one too)
Mod. 36 3" tapered bbl. square butt (~1976)
The middle gun (2" mod. 36) belonged to my Grandfather and was his back-up/off-duty gun when he served as a police officer with the local City PD.
Comments welcome and thanks for looking!
Steve

Stevie, "The Book" shows J-frame SN 295000 was made in 1962, while SN 786544 was made in 1969.
So I'm gonna SWAG that your 715000 range was made in 1968.
J858000 range would be 1981.

Howdy Steve. Welcome.
You have a really nice collection going there!
I always keep an eye out for a deal on J-Frames. For some reason, I have a hankerin' for a 3" bbl 36. Maybe nickel plated just to mix things up a bit!

Can't have enough J-frames ... 36s, 37s, 60s, Airweights, Airlites, Bodyguards, Centennials ... buy 'em all, carry 'em all, shoot 'em all.

I started with N-frames... thought K/L frames were small... and J-frames? Pocket guns! I finally got my first - an ANIB 642-2 bought 2/07 as a pocket protector. Then, a friend passed away - and his 5" 63 was offered to me at a fair price... it started a trend!
CW from UR: 5" 63 (.22 RF), 4" 651 (.22 WMR), 3" 63 (.22 RF), 632 Pro (.327 Fed Mag), & 3" 60 Pro (.38/.357M)

J model
Careful ...... this addiction can spread to other models. I currently have model 60s, 10s, 686s, 627s, 625s, and a single model 25. BTW, there is no known cure. Hooked once, hooked for life. Welcome to our affliction.

You are normal, not addicted
What you have here is a nice start, keep shopping! Currently, I have a 30-1, two 31-1's, two 36's, 60, 63, 317, 331ti, 650. My son got a 36 & 60 from me and I traded off a 36. My 31-1's (with factory target stocks) are quite accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I recommend everyone try a 3" barrel .32 Long J frame.

I only have two. A 637 and recent addition of a 642. Therefore, Stainz is my new hero.
