CUSTOM MODEL 19/66s
All,
If I had to get rid of all of my guns, the ONLY one that I would keep is my 1985-vintage Model 19-5. This particular gun has one of the best trigger pulls and handling characteristics if any revolver I've felt.
The Spegel S/B Extended Boot Grips give it that perfect feel. I have since replaced the bobbed hammer with a Hard Chromed Service Hammer that has been rendered DAO. The trigger pull is around 8.5# and is ignition-reliable.
I'd like to see your custom K-Frame 19/66s. One of the things I was thinking about with my gunsmith is to take a Model 15 or 67 and install a 19/66 cylinder and yoke to make a Magnum Combat Masterpice. What do you think.
18DAI: I'm sure you have some sage counsel on this...
Let's see 'em!

The Combat Masterpiece 19/66 is one of my favorites,
While they will easily handle .38 special the 15/67 non Magnum frames and cylinders do not have the necessary heat treating to handle the pressures generated by magnum loads.
If you like the tapered barrel of the Models 15/67 but want a gun that can shoot Magnum rounds try the "L" frame Model 686 Mountain gun.

What are the differences in the Rockwell measurements between .38 Special and .357 Magnum K frames and cylinders?

That is a beautiful 19-5 gtoppcop! I'm green with envy!
The 19 cylinder in the 15 frame won't work. Two reasons. The 15 isn't heat treated to withstand 357's. Also, IIRC, the 15's frame window is too small to accomodate the 19 cylinder as well.
I enjoy the 15 for what it is, a tack driving dedicated 38. Best regards, 18DAI

I'm pretty sure the frames are the same, but the .357 cylinder is longer, requiring a .357 barrel to match. You'd have to change both because you can't cut down the .38 forcing cone to fit.

The custom trigger work in this 66-4 is amazing...not sure who did it because i was so exicted about getting it that I didn't think to ask the original owner...who also added the Spegels.

My model 19-4 has the sweetest trigger job ever and with the factory combat grips shoots like a dream. To top off that it doesn't look bad either.
