Default E within a circle on 586-3 box

Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but I just purchased a 586-3 that is ANIB. On the box label, there is an E within a circle stamped close to the S&W logo. Does this mean anything? The serial number dates it around late 1990.

It seems that I've read that some gun boxes were stamped with a C if they had a cylinder repair/inspection. Just wondered if the E means anything.

This is my first 586, so I'm excited to see it. The gun was pretty oily, etc. in the photos, but the seller told me that it was one of the nicest S&W's that he's had in a while. I bought my nickel 29-2 from him and it was really nice.

At promotion time, he got a rubber stamp and ink pad!

Thanks!

I figured it was a stupid question, and it was.

Thank you.

The more I learn about these guns, the more I realize how much I don't know. Keeps it interesting.
