Default Need help with a date (629 that is!)

I am not sure about S&W serial numbers and date of manufacturing, and I cannot find any info online.

My 629-6 Serial number is DCA008x. Can someone help me out on this one?

(BTW, I've been married so long, I have forgotten what a date was like! )

Thanks!

Default A other question of production date

I'm interested in a 629 that is fully rebuild for action shooting.
This gun is in consignation at the gun store but the former owner is no longer traceable.
The gun himself is in a perfect state but the can tell me the production date of the gun.
Is there some who can tell me when this gun is produced.
serial number CEY53**.

Thank you all.

Thank you all.
The serial number you provided shows a ship date of between July 2001 and February 2002. Serial CEVxxxx starts on 7/6/2001, and CFBxxxx starts on 2/16/2002.

S&W does not produce in serial number sequence, so you may need to extrapolate.
