OMG! I actually bought something!
May be first time I have posted in this forum, too. But it was made in 1981, so...
At a local show today I found a 4" M25-5. Thought about one for 20 years or so. Wanted the pinned barrel. Had to be a 4" version (I never understood these in the longer barrel lengths). Well, there it was on a dealer's table. Looked pretty good. Finish showed effects from handling and storage but no real wear or damage. Stocks were post 1983 target style with real pretty wood. Tagged at $699. Gulp.
Walked around the show. Had seen that 25 on his table at two previous shows so I knew it had been in inventory a while. Dealers want to sell, not possess. Swung back by and it was still there. Maybe 45 Colt wheel guns are slow sellers these days. Made him an offer. Didn't expect him to accept. He did and I walked out with it for $550.
Have correct stocks in box of parts and will sell these.
Question: This gun has the full target options with trigger, hammer, red insert and white out line. Were any or all of these features standard on the 25-5 or were they optional?

Id hazard that especially the RR and white outline were pretty standard by that point (the '80s) I haven't seen many Smiths made in the 80s and 90s that didn't have those features. I have seen a couple 19-5s without the RR, though. I cannot speak to the TT and TH. Target stocks were pretty common, however.
That's a damn good deal, nice score! Post some pics, brah, we like 'em in this forum too!

Saxon, congrats on the great find but you know what my answer to your thread is going to be...
THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICS....haa haa
Come on man bring on the gun porn and show that thing off..
Now to answer your question, Yes that was pretty much standard for the 25-5.. My two had TT,TH,TS, RR, WO

Nice gun. Seriously, that rock is awesome. Is it indigenous or did you bring it in from another part of the country? Back to the gun, that is really beautiful, and to the op, lets see some photo's and congratulations on a great grab.
Frank.

Chrysocolla and quartz on limestone? Walnut on carbon steel!
Both very nice!

Swapped out the post-1983 wood for correct period targets.

There ya go Saxon,,,thats what I am talking about....LOL
I love the wood grain on the right side of the grips that is awsome. That would look good in a right hand holster facing out so everyone can see...

Nice pickup on the 25-5.
