I bought a new 432PD in 2009 and it performs flawlessly with .32 H&R mags. When I try to shoot .32 S&W longs I get about 10 misfires per box of 50. I've tried different brands and get the same results. Any idea what the problem may be? Thanks.
Go to Brownell's website and order their extended firing pin for j-frame S&W revolvers. Price is about $15. It is a very easy job to replace. The pin itself is not longer. The difference is that the new firing pin allows .015" further travel but will not perforate the primer. My 432PD shoot everything now.
Thank you Seldom for the info. I will give that a try. What exactly is the difference between the .32 H&R Mag and .32 S&W Long? I thought they were the same except for the shell length, powder and bullet. Thanks.
In my experience with the 432PD, shooting both cartridges (plus .32 acp), the problem is not with length but with primer hardness. Before replacing the firing pin my PD only shot Federal cartridges reliably.
