Default 327PC...the ultimate carry weapon?

Ok guys, I'm sorry about what i'm about to post here. I've only posted a few times, but it always seems to be about the same thing. Forgive me.

I live in a small town with only a couple gun stores, and zero ranges that rent guns. That said, I just sold a gun and have a chunk-o-change burning a hole in my pocket. I am hell-bent on getting a wheel gun.

I had it narrowed down to 2 guns: 627PC and 327PC. I really like the looks of the 627, but the more I think about it, the more I shy away. mainly because it weighs the same as the 1911 I just sold because I thought it was too heavy to carry.

That leaves the 327PC 2". VERY little press out there about this gun. VERY few reviews. I've never seen one in person, but just like that girl from college that I knew would ruin my life, I crave it.

Size. Not an issue. Weight: talk to me. Too light? Just right?

Let me hear from people who have one, who carry it, or at least those who WOULD carry it. How does it shoot? How is the recoil? Is a the ultimate carry weapon? (8 rounds of .357 is a bunch of firepower).

I am about to pull the trigger on this (I love saying that on gun boards) so any input good or bad is appreciated.

And....go

I have a 327PC.

I have had it for many years now but hardly use it since purchasing my 327NG.

The only thing the Night Guard is missing is being factory cut for moon clips.

I think the N-frame Night Guards are fantastic snubbies for carry

By the 627PC I presume you are referring to the UDR/PDR revolvers.

I have owned those since they came out. They are great guns
and you can shoot them all day, but the NGs are easier to carry.

Yes...the Night Guard keeps popping up on my radar. How is the trigger?
I know the PC stuff are supposed to have excellently smooth triggers.

How do you feel about the moon clip issue for actual combat?

AND...if you have the 627PC UDR (yes, that's the one I mean)...would YOU carry it?

Personally I would go with the NG
Mo' barrel mo' betta.
In case you are interested there is a 627PC on gunbroker right now.

Yes I have carried the 627/657 UDRs on many occasions. The leather
that I bought for them works equally well with the 327s

I LOVE moonclips in defensive revolvers. Especially snubbies.

It does note matter how you want to do your reload (speedloaders,
moonclips or speed strips) the moonclip with your initial rounds insures
positive ejection of all spent casings. It also makes it easy to pluck the
empties out if you short stroke the ejector rod under pressure.

Then reload with your choice. Personally I do not carry a reload in a
civilian carry situation however many do.

The NG trigger is more than adequate for a combat revolver. However
as a S&W armorer I tend to polish any action in my firearms even from
the PC

BTW, I have carried snub nosed N-frames on and off for about 25 years now.

I think that Scandium is the GREATEST thing to happen to N-frames
since stainless steel

Is the UDR heavy feeling? and which holster did you go with?

Thanks for your info, by the way...

I have lots of leather. I mean a full 4 drawer file cabinet+

IWB and OWB. Black and tan.

Different holsters for different jobs.

I can't begin to recall all of the small makers

There is lots of Galco and Bianchi.

The 327 is a very attractive carry revolver ...

Pros: Lightweight, large frame, more bang for buck vs. 5 or 6 shot CCWs.

Cons: Price, IL, requires LOTS of practice to master shooting (especially with hot loads).

The NGs are discontinued, and getting scarce. A few bucks cheaper than the 327 though.
