Found a 657-2 6" for sale...good price?
My local gun store has a used (good shape) 657-2 6" with unfluted cylinder and full underlug. They are asking $780.00. Seems a little bit steep, but I've not bought a firearm in a couple years (had a child, sucked up the $$$!). What do you think?

Welcome to the forum.
That might be a tad high but probably not by much, if any. That is a gun I never see for sale around here. At least I can't recall seeing one.
Do you reload? You know 41 magnum is pricey to buy.
Maybe someone else here will have better info on the price.

Yes, I reload, and have been doing so for about 24 years. I own a good assortment of N Frames and L Frames of various calibers, but I've just not had a .41 mag in the stable and really want one.
The prices on Gunbroker are not too far south of this price, but they are for standard barrel models with fluted cylinders.
Thanks for the welcome...registered in 2009 for this board and mostly just read...haven't posted until yesterday.

Three posts in three years.....do not be so shy around us
That price sounds high to me. 41 magnums are a slow sell in most gun shops.
Make them an offer and see what happens. If it is consignment they may have
to call the owner. Have patience.
My LGS got in a super clean 8 3/8 57 earlier this year. I already had one so i
was not interested in paying the $700 asking price. I go there every couple of
weeks to check out the used inventory. I made them the same offer every visit
for well over three months and then brought it home for $475

Thanks for the info. They also have a 657-4 6" (with standard barrel/cylinder) asking about the same price.
They are having a "Black Friday" sale, so I might see what the price drops to then.

FYI,
The 6 1/2" full lug was a Distributor Exclusive but I can not recall for
who. 2000 pieces were made in several runs across a couple of years.
This was the same time that S&W was eliminating the square butt from
the N-frame line up. So even though they have the same product code,
103820, these are found with both square and round butt. There is no
record of how many of each were produced. Manufactured 1993-1994
I have one of each. I changed the grips on both of mine.
Love the 41 Magnum

Ditto on the 41mag love....too.
The current prices on the older used S&W N frames seem to be within $550 to $999 here too. Its a matter on how bad you want it, how good it looks and feels in your hand. If it speaks to me i reach for the plastic and buy it. I have my own credit card and pay it off monthly. This way my purchases are under control of my income.
