Is this rust? Or something else?
I've had my 640 pro for about 2 weeks now, and I really like it.
Only problems so far is heavy trigger(apex kit fixed that) and shooting low and left(158 grain bullets-drifting sights fixed that)
Today I was cleaning it, and noticed some pitting on the barrel and inside the ejector shroud(if that's the right term?). I hadn't noticed it before, so I pulled up a picture of when I first got the gun and sure enough it shows up in the picture, so I know it's not something I did. I tried to get a picture of it, yes i know the SN is showing, not that concerned about it. Is this worth sending it back to S&W over? and what is it? Thanks
You can see it in the picture inside the shroud, towards the chamber of the barrel, and to the left of the forcing cone on the exterior of the barrel.

Looks like a flaw in the manufacturing process to me.

Well id send it back. Let a few more comment on it first. Id say since you have noticed it you wont be able to live with it. Also tell them its consitently shooting low left.

Just make sure to put the factory parts back in before you send it out.

They will not return any aftermarket parts to you. Like previously stated, looks like a manufacturing flaw. I cant see where it will affect anything but looks. If it bothers you, send it back. You paid enough for it, it should be perfect. If it doesnt bother you, just enjoy it.

I'd probably just smooth that out myself. But I've always had a good touch for that sort of thing. If you aren't confident in cleaning it up yourself, send it back.

From what I've heard, they return the gun to factory specs. for reasons of liability.
