I was just wondering who among us might be the proud owner of a J Frame 5 Shot JET LOADER or two? The Jet Loader is a speed loader very similar to the safariland Comp III without a main spring cover. Safariland only makes the Comp III in K and L Frame sizes. The JET LOADER is also made for the J Frame/SP101 5 shot guns. This should be the fastest reload for a J Frame or SP101 other than Moon Clips.

If you have one, lets have a report on how you carry it and how well it works for you.

JetLoader SpeedLoaders

This is the first time I've seen them mentioned... but as a devoted carrier of a 5 shot Baby Chief, I can see one or more of them in my future! I'll be watching this thread for a user report too. Thanks!

I want to say that I have seen them used at a local IDPA match by one of the revolver shooter. He was running a L-frame. Seemed to be well made and work.

I thought we would have had some comments posted by now from an owner or two.
Someone has to be buying them, or they would have been dropped from production.

I guess I'm just old fashioned. I carry an HKS speedloader with my snubby. Nothin' fancy, just somethin' proven to work.

I carry a couple of HKS speedloaders for my Baby Chief, but when I had the opportunity to use the spring loaded type of speedloaders for PPC I came to recognize their usefulness. I was told about a veteran who upon being given one of the newly introduced "Six Second Loaders" was reported to have said, "I can't go that slow!"

I personally am at least twice as fast with a Jet-type loader as with the HKS. Remember, "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away." Take care of yourself out there!

My wife got a Safariland speed loader for Christmas, interferes a bit with the Crimson Trace grip, might have to 'trim' the loader some to get a better 'shot' into the cylinder. Kind of goes in at an angle.

No replies from J-frame Jetloader owners yet, and I'm not one either (I have a few Safariland Comp Is, and they work OK), but I might have something to add to the discussion. I have four K-frame Jetloaders, and I feel that they are the best I've used (haven't tried a Variant yet). Haven't had any problems with Comp Is or Comp IIs, but the Jetloader feels more secure because of the strong spring pressure, and it certainly shoots the cartridges into the cylinder. As far as clearance, I'm pretty sure that the Jetloader is slightly BETTER than the Comp I & 2. It is certainly not worse. I can understand your wanting to hear from someone who has used them, but I think it's a pretty safe bet to order a couple. If they weren't so expensive, I'd probably already own at least two, maybe four. The only thing I would say against them is that they are slightly longer than a Comp I, although for me that is not much of a disadvantage.

I am a fairly serious revolver shooter. I shoot a Club Defensive Pistol Match every other month. We rotate between Steel Challange and Defensive Pistol. My first SSR Revolver was a 64-2. I picked up 10 Safariland Comp III Speed Loaders for it over a few months, as I got a handle on how many I needed.
I just completed the build on my second SSR Revolver, this time an L Frame 686-5. Again I picked up 10 Safariland Comp III Speed Loaders for it.
I have never owned a Jet Loader to date, but I am totally sold on the Safariland Comp III Speed Loaders for the K and L Frame.

Our Club Match is loosely based on IDPA Rules. We have added a Rimfire Class, and a BUG Class that IDPA does not have. Shooting a 5 Shot Revolver in the BUG Class against a Compact Glock or M&P, you are at a disadvantage unless you can do a pretty speedy reload. I solved this problem when I went from a 638 to a 442 Pro Moon Clip.
But I keep thinking what would be the best set up for a Compedative BUG Revolver. The answer I came up with is a Tuned 3" SP101 reloaded with Jet Loaders. The SP101 with a pined on front sight is easy to convert to a Fiber Optic front sight.
A Tuned 60 or 640 would probably work also if one could find one with a 3" barrel, and pinned front sight.

Anyway for a J Frame or SP101 the J Jet Loader has to be the hot set up.
I am also amazed that more are not carrying a J Jet Loader for concealed carry in a jacket pocket.

I figure I will get a couple on order before long. When I get them I will have a Try Speed Loader Form cut out to form my Kydex around and build a Double Pouch for them.

I am still amazed no one has posted that they have one. The Jet Loader has to be a major improvement over a Safariland Comp I.

UPDATE

Well it has been a year.
I now have a couple J Frame Jet Loaders. They do indeed work well. They are also useable for concealed carry by those who wear a holster on the belt, and not bad at all for jacket or vest pocket carry.

This is a picture of a J Frame Jet Loader in a Big Creek Belt Carrier. An HKS 36 is also shown, and will also work well in the belt carrier.

I normally wear a Pancake holster at 4 O'Clock. I also carry a speed loader infront of the holster. I do this the same way anytime I belt carry a revolver which can be a 442, SP101, K Frame Snub or my WC GP100. AND this is also where I carry my Primary Reload when shooting Defensive Pistol, and ICORE Matchs. No fumbeling around, my concealed carry reload is in the same location as my match reload.

Back to the J Frame/SP101.
We are pretty much limited to the Safariland Comp I, HKS 36, 5 Star, and the Jet Loader. Of the 4 listed the HKS 36 and 5 Star are turn Knob style requiring you to hold the cylinder to release the cartridges.
The Safariland Comp I a push to release style requires you to grasp the speed loader by the body. This requires some dexterity to keep your fingers away from the side of the revolver. One draw back to the comp I is no great way to carry one on the belt where it is fast to get into play.
The Jet Loader is grasped by the knob, and extracted from the bely carrier. Holding it by the knob positions your hand far enough above the cylinder to really speed up the reload.
No issues with finger clearance along the side of the revolver.

I have only found a couple sources for the Jet Loaders.
Pistoleer, and Power Custom. They are a little on the expensive side when compaired to a Comp I or an HKS 36, but not all that bad if you compair them to a semi auto magazine.
Is the Jet Loader worth the expense?? I guess it depends on just how important a Fast Fumble Free reload is to you.
At the moment I have 2 of them. One is in my box of speedloaders I keep to check the fit on the Kydex Belt Carriers I have started to make. Leaving only 1 for concealed carry and match use in BUG Division. I am planning on getting atleast a couple more on order shortly. They are worth the expense to me.

I figured somebody must be liking the J-frame Jet Loaders™ since they seem to stay back ordered all the time. I guess I'll have to keep trying since they seem to be what I really want.

I just went to Pistoleer, and you are correct. They are on back order.

When you get one or two keep me in mind for a Belt Carrier.
Unlike most makers of Carriers, I am building for more than the K Frame and L Frame/GP100 competition revolvers.

The concealed carry folks need a belt carrier for SP101's, and 396 Night Guards, etc. I have examples of about every speed loader made by Safariland, HKS, and the J, K, and L Jet Loaders.

I'm in need of some Big Creek loader carriers for my K frame Jet loaders. Searched high and low and can't find where to order any.Could I get some help here?
I can't get anything on them on Concealed Carry Concepts.
