.41 Magnum short barrel (3" or less) ported
Hey guys --- I am assuming S&W made one or there were some special edition models made like this. Any info / thread links / pictures would be awesome. I put one of these on my gun wish list but I'm not exactly sure how I'd get one.

I believe there were several runs of Lew Horton 3" ported 657's. There always seems to be one for sale on an auction site, and they usually run $1000.00 or more. I've got an un-ported version made about 1986. Saw one of those go for $955.00 plus shipping last week. Here's mine:

3" 657
I also bought a couple of the unported one's when they were introduced.....have carried one of them on and off for years, usually load 220 gr. SWC's over Unique.....shoots good. Have synthetic Hogue grips on my carry gun. They are great guns, but I have always had an affinity for compact guns that shoot big bullets.

Picture not as sweet as DR505s but here's a similar 657 3" from 1986.

Yes that one is extremely sweet. I have the S&W bug bad --- there is no other manufacturer where I want one of everything like S&W revolvers.
Wonder when the tax return will get here?

I did find several on Gunbroker, only one was a 1980s Lew Horton Magnaport gun. The rest were PC guns that weren't ported or comped. The one guy with a pre-Hillary hole 657 PC 2-5/8" knew he had something special and set a Buy It Now of $1650!

Those are really really rare and probably worth every penny if it's an un-fired collector with box and papers.

I've had three or four of the standard 3" Combat Special and one of the ported...and ended up keeping the ported one... I wanted a shooter/carry gun and the others were all 98% condition so I sold them off...
Also these 1986 vintage guns were not Lew Horton specials..just uncataloged stocking dealer specials...there was something like 5500 of them..
