Default Model 640 .38 Special Price Check?

Gents, what does a clean pre-lock S&W 640 go for these days?

I found one a few years ago at a gun show for $395.00 which I thought was under-valued. I took it home. I would guess that they are now in the $450 to $550 range. I have a pre-lock 640 in .357Mag also.
I wouldn't part with either.
Are you looking for one or do you have a line on one?

I recently picked one up for $400. No dash with crimson trace grips about 90%. I should have done it a long time ago.

Lowest price I've seen lately is $450. I'm glad I got mine 5 years ago for $328 out the door.

I lucked up and found one just recently for $375 at a small town pawn shop where I was just passing thru, needless to say I jumped right on it, and what made it even better was the fact that it had the CEN prefix, I'm a happy camper, insert smiley face here.

I had 3 of them until December, sold one at a nearby gun show got $500.00 for it. Around here they just don't seem show up very often that is why I insisted on getting the price that I did.
I am holding the other 2.

Paid $375 for mine, absolutely mint, about a year and a half ago. Could not pass it up in that condition. Now, Js in very good shape seem to be in the $500-600 range.

I paid $570 including the transfer fees for one last summer. It included the box, papers and tools and looked like it maybe had one box of ammo through it. I had been looking for one for years. They are hard to find here in CA and of course everything here is higher. But I think $500 these days almost anywhere would be a fair deal. I think the 640 is one of the best J frames S&W ever made.
