Thumbs down 27-2 recessed not pinned......

I saw a 27-2 ser# N941XXX nickel 8 3/8. pretty clean gun. I think its a transition model. Any body got any idea's when they stopped pinning the barrels? The bible say's when they changed to dash 3. What do you guy's think / know????

Bob, you are correct in it being a "Transitional" type. I do not think there is any one definitive answer to when or what ser # the cut off is between the -2 and the -3 in this case. It is across the entire manufacturing line where the line is blurred or is that my glasses? Anyway it is still a nice revolver. Kyle

The factory always uses up old parts stocks in these situations, so in the case of model 27s they probably ran out of pinned barrels before recessed cylinders. It could easily have gone the other way.
