Traded for a 24-5 .44 Special today.
Some of ya'll may remember the Great Randall Knife/Gun Trade of Ought 10 coupla years back. Ole Barry traded me, as part of his trade a Kimber Eclipse II as part of this big deal. It has set in one of the safes ever since. He came by today with this absolutely beautiful Heritage .44 Special. Wrong grips, like new, faint turn line. He now has his Kimber back and I have the 24-5. Lew Horton Heritage Series. 150 manufactured.
Just had to share one pic of its cousin the 25-10 with it. I am a happy dude. Performance center did well on these in my estimation.
Knife is believed to have been dug up in Iggys combination Bull pasture/rose garden.
Will shoot it tomorrow. Not the knife, the .44.

Wow! Gorgeous. I think you did well on that trade!
Wanna trade for a P&R Mod. 57? It has either an N or S serial number - I can't remember since it sits in the back of my safe...

Very pretty! And neither of those guns was spoiled by the insertion of that damnable lock, either!

Wow. That is one pretty revolver! It's a pity it doesn't have the original grips, if for no other reason that I'm curious to see them.
I love the 44 Special cartridge. So accurate. So versatile. It really shines if you reload for it... though I kind of doubt that revolver is going to see any HD or SD use...!
Those are both very, very nice revolvers. Shoot them in good health.

The one being used is one of, if not the most, accurate revolver owned. The original grips are tiny, and somewhat useless.
Wished i's sprung for one of the case hardened ones, freaking beautiful.

Man, I'm a sucker for those case colors. I have a step down from your gun; a 21-4. It has the lock and is not from the PC but the color was done by the same man.
Also have the square butt cousin, the 22-4 in 45 acp in the same finish. One day I will come across a heritage gun. A bunch sold on GB several weeks ago but I recovering from a pre-lock 629 PC V-Comp so I had to pass them up. Thank you for sharing.

Man what a great looking 44 special! The case colors are awesome and no lock to boot. I would have gladly made the same trade any day, though to be fair I have not shot a Kimber yet that was not a tack driver. Please give us an update of how well it shoots.

Thanks guys, Avery, did Turnbull do the color case for Smith on these? I've been down at Matagorda fishing but I will run some of my .44 reloads through it and a 24-3 hopefully before the weekend.

Turnbull did indeed produce that finish. He does work for a lot of factories now. While many traditionalists do not like these guns I think they are very very nice.

Mine's a later one with at lock. I put a pair of Kim Ahrends on it and never looked back. One of my favorite revolvers of all time. Smooth as glass and amazingly accurate for a 4 inch fixed sight gun. As they say, EVERYTHING you need, and NOTHING you don't

Bill,
He did indeed. I actually called last year and talked to the man himself. A really nice gentleman. His office assistant took my serial number and confirmed that Turnbull Restoration had done the colors. It was icing on the cake of an already very nice gun.
You should chat with Smithnut. I believe he may have the whole set of Heritage guns...or at least darn close.
BTW, normally I would NEVER reveal the contents of someone else's collection; however, he posted a photo of them in the PC thread.
Regards,
A.
