Quick question about my S&W 686 Plus
Well, I finally found one of my "unicorn" guns, a S&W 686 Plus 3" Talo edition. Since I am going to be using this as my woods gun(when I'm not carrying my 329 Night Guard) I was wondering, can I can shoot +P loads out of it? I ran across a good deal on some 158gr Speer +p ammo and I don't want to buy it if I can't shoot it. I don't plan on shooting it on a regular basis.
Thanks in advance for the help guys!

The 686 is chambered for 357 mag which does not come in +p. Any revolver chambered for .357 mag can also shoot .38 special which is a much milder round. 38 Sp. does come in +p but it is still significantly milder than .357 mag. So bottom line is yes you can safely shoot .357 mag, 38 special+p, or standard 38 special from any 686.

Hmmm, interesting. This is the ammo that I found a deal on from a friend. It says that it is .357 magnum +p???
"NEW" .357 Mag 158gr Speer Bonded Unicore Hollow Point +P 1000pk
I had never heard of .357 magnum +p ammo that's why I figured I'd ask you guys and see if you had any information on it.

.357 +p is not saami listed so what is the pressure? No don't buy that stuff. They are out of stock anyway. And it looked like a bullet not a cartrage. With no saami listing what legal department would let you sell it? There is a .357 max but it's too long to chamber in .357 mag. Feed that unicorn good stuff or he'll go away on the next rainbow

Yeah, that ad doesn't make any sense really. It is for bullets (not cartridges). Bullets are just bullets. There is no such thing as a +P bullet in any caliber! Probably a typo on the ad I'd have to assume?

The link is to an ad for bullets, not loaded rounds. Bullets (projectiles) are what go down the barrel.
A loaded round or cartridge is the complete ammo.
That ad is not for ammo.

That is loaded ammo, the picture just shows the bullet. My friend has a full ammo can of it. Either way looks like I'll just pass on it. Thanks guys.
