Question S&W 21-4 nickel ( not Thunder Ranch )

Just can't find much on this gun as far as when did they start the remake of the 21 and what was the starting serial #. My serial # is DAT 84xx but not sure of date. Thanks

Default 21-4

Hi Twitch! Great to meet another NRA Life Member! I have one of these, SN#DCL-000x. Bought it off GunBroker in late 2010, as I recall. Shoulda bought the 2d one with sequential # at the same time, but it wasn't like I didn't have bills to pay.

One thing different from Thunder Ranch (at least to my eyes), the front sight is a 'half-nickel' as opposed to the 'half-dime' on Thunder Ranch, so it looks properly proportioned. The RB grip frame absolutely kills the looks, so I hide it under a SB Pach grip when shooting it. The 'proper' grip would be a SB service-style Magna, but that seems to be out.

Hope I've helped a little, I've yet to see another of these.

Safe holiday.

Sorry can't help with Dates of manufacture. But Mine DAW prefix is one of the finest revolvers I've ever owned. Once I changed out the preposterously undersized magna grips and put on a set of Ahrends I never looked back. Now have thousands of rounds downrange and love it even more. Personally I LOVE the round butt grip and have always thought the huge square butt was a waste of steel and wood,
