Hello

I have just purchased a new Stealth Hunter this morning and while it is in jail I want to find a proper holster for it. There are lots of N frame holsters and 629 holsters, but this thing is different, with a 7 1/2" very swollen barrel area.

I don't really need a fancy holster, and I don't really need it for hunting as this weapon will primarily be used at the range. I just want some place to stow it while checking / changing targets and the like. So a hip holster or shoulder holster would be OK, concealment (haha... with that hogleg?) is not a consideration either.

Anyone have suggestions on a decent holster suitable for the use I have outlined above?

I'm pretty excited. I haven't owned a revolver since the early 80s when I had one of the Dan Wesson .357s. I have only fired one .44 magnum round, and that was back then too. As I recall, I didn't like the .44 magnum much (I fired a Ruger Super Blackhawk that was mistimed and shucking lead), but recently I decided it was on my bucket list to get one, and then I saw this thing and absolutely had to buy it.

That is the most bada##-looking revolver I have ever seen!

But I do want to find a holster for it... ;-)

If you are not going to carry it, a gun rug might be an option and it is easier to carry and cheaper too. I gave up carrying one in a holster just to shoot at the range long time ago.

Well, I decided to go for function over style, and ordered an Uncle Mike's shoulder holster for it. I don't think a belt holster would have been to my liking, that big old heavy revolver would be trying to drop my pants all the time.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I have 700 rounds of ammo on order too, I intend to shoot this thing until I can't stand to do it any more.

take a look into reloading as well...with the price of ammo the "can't stand it"may be sooner rather then later LOL....good luck with your new rig!

I have a Dillon 550B that I use for my .45 ACP stuff in my Les Baer 1911, and I seldom shoot less than 200 rounds when I take the .45 to the range. I am sure I won't be doing 200 round mornings with the .44 mag, but I do want to have enough ammo to be able to shoot the thing until I am good with it.

That practice will provide me with lots of reloadable brass, so I will then need to get Large Pistol Magnum primers and bullets and dies and caliber conversion kit for the Dillon, and I can start reloading the stuff. I already have some powders that seem like they will be suitable.

Sorry, this is the only picture of the weapon I have, and this was the one in the gb ad:
