Need Ideas for Grips and Holsters for the 65 3 inch....
Hey all,
I have a M65 with a 3 inch that I picked up for my DAD about 10 years ago. It was a police trade-in and came with well used Pachmayr grips as well as the factory stocks.
I cleaned it up and I love that pistol. It's one of my favorites even though it's the only S&W revolver I currently own.
I've been thinking of fancying it up a bit...or maybe sprucing it up is a better term.
Right now I have the factory grips on it with a set of Tylers and it looks good like that. But I have seen you guys post pics of 65's with aftermarket grips that look simply beautiful. I'd like to get some ideas and suggestions on grips to put on her and also I am going to start carrying it when I go bowhunting. I'm in Texas and I have to get a new CCW permit and when I do, I am going to carry this quite a bit. SO, along with the grip suggestions, I'd like to see some nice OWB holsters for the 65 3 inch too. If you want, and have some ideas, you can throw in some IWB holsters for it too.
Lets see what's possible with this fantastic sidearm....
Thanks for the help and ideas.

Here are two options that I like....
1) Factory S&W Finger Groove Combats - usually expensive if you can find them...
S&W Model 13 3" 357 Mag.
2) Ahrends Tactical Finger Groove - I like these a lot!
S&W 65 Lady Smith 3" 357 Mag.
Hope this helps,
Bob S

I have a set of Ahrends round butt Tactical grips on my 3" 65-3 and love the feel and balance they give me. The rounded shape is just about perfect for carry too.

The 3” Model 65 is a favorite among many here on the Forum and there is a wide variety of grips and holsters to compliment its natural balance.
Here are my favorite grips made by Craig Spegel. These are his boot grip design but he also makes them in an extended version that provides a pinky finger grip and covers the butt.
Here it is in an Andrews holster . . . ideal for concealed carry but a little difficult to re-holster in field use.
And here it is in a Gould & Goodrich Model HZL33 which provides a more convenient entry for re-holstering but still not a reinforced opening for convenient field use.

For my 3" Model 65, I finally settled on the S&W RB Target Stocks as the best combination of feel, looks and concealability:

How much dough do you have to blow?
Factory combat stocks will cost $150.00+, not a good choice if you have small hands.
Factory target stocks, like on the RB gun, cost about the same.
Stag stocks by Patrick Grashorn are in the same price range and enhance the look of your handgun.
On the low end, you have Pachmayrs (top), Hogue Bantam (left, and a personal favorite), Herretts (right).
Uncle Mike's used to offer a boot grip, don't have a photo of them but I recently put a set on my 65-3.
My favorite holster for the above guns is this DeSantis.

Groo here
What do you shoot in it?
38's most any grip will work.
357 they got to fit.
A custom fit set if you can, there is a reason so many k frame mags
have Pachmayrs.

Though this is a M64, still a 3" K. Ray at Lobo will custom make just about any type of holster you want. Unparalleled fit and finish with many options available. I'd take a serious look before buying another.

My old 3" 65 (before it was stolen) had Pachmyers on it and I carried it in an El Paso Saddlery "Street Combat". Great holster, especially if yours has a bobbed hammer like mine did.

I prefer the factory service grips for show and carry, but then again, most of my guns have factory wood on them. I shoot just as good with them as I do with rubber or wood with fancy curves. But relistically, if its something that youre gonna carry, be more concerned about comfort than looks.

This is my friends that he had slicked up...he added a polished Tyler T-Grip...
I have one also that I mainly just use for training as there are a lot of grips that will fit the smallest to largest hands... My favorite is just the plain Pachmayer Compact Professional with the open backstrap...
Holster wise...DeSantis Speed Scabbard is hard to beat for the price and usually can be found without having to wait 6 months...
