Default Sight Adjustment Tool

I recently purchased a new Model 17 masterpiece produced in 2013. The case contained no sight adjustment tool and no mention of one in the instruction booklet. Does anyone know when Smith and Wesson stopped including this tool with their revolvers?

I saw an excellent article regarding these tools on the forum dated several years back. I now know what is the correct tool for my vintage K22 from the early 1950s. Now to find one?

Thanks in advance for responses.

At one time, new revolvers came with a round four-bladed screwdriver that was supposed to go on your keychain. They had an S&W logo on one side and something else on the other - the one on my keychain has "Law Enforcement & Sporting Goods Since 1852" on the other side but the one in my handgun range bag has something else.

You can find them on eBay, for example, and they usually carry a $6 price tag.

I never used the screwdriver that came with my revolvers because I found that it's a generic size that doesn't fit any of the screws very well. I keep a small kit of gunsmith screwdrivers in my range bag and don't bugger up the screws because they fit better.

mine came with a Craftsman 1/4" x 12" screwdriver....lots of leverage for those buggered up screws.

Thanks for the replies so far. That fine Craftsmen screwdriver should break loose even the most stubborn screws.

Does anyone know when Smith & Wesson stopped including the sight adjustment tool with their new revolvers?
