Gotta love Pawn Shops!
So, I was out hitting a couple of shops I don't frequent all too often. On the way home I decided to stop at the one that usually doesn't have anything too interesting and usually is too pricey when it does. Well today was a little different........
The only thing missing is the wax paper. I'll deal with it! Doesn't appear to have been fired much, just a beauty. Serial #96K95xx (1981) Oh, did I mention, it's a 66-1?

Doesn't that feel good! Great looking gun. I'm trying to talk a friend in to selling his. He's still on the fence.

Haven't you seen the latest Blue Book for the 2 1/2" 66-? "Deduct 95% for no wax paper."

Nice find!
KenL, if you can find one, the old Bianchi Shdow 8L holsters work well with the snubbie K frames.
I have two of these DeSantis holsters for my 3" K frames. Rides high, secures well, but is difficult to draw from in a hurry.

Hey, Ken. Finally! A great snub that didn't fall into the waiting hands of our brother officer KLYDE. I've lost count of how many snubs KLYDE has prevented from making their way out to me in Vegas. Otherwise, he's a great guy.
With box and tools, no less. There are some posters here who would knock your purchase down for not having the wax paper. Not KLYDE or me. Glad it went to someone who knows what he has. Off to casino. Stay safe, partner.

Nice 66. What should I expect to pay for one just like it but without a box and in a Bianchi holster like the one in post 6? There's one in a 30 day holding cell that hasn't been priced yet.

You're bad! You think like I do. Of course, that 95% only refers to when you want to sell the gun. You're bad!

I love pawn shops. Especially the ones where the owner's kids do not want to be in the business. I have half a dozen that I frequent where they barely know what Internet means. Some of the deals in the past few years are just spectacular based on the prices our fellow Forum members are willing to pay.
Fortunately most of the buying public is too lazy these days to do any leg work. They prefer to sit in-front of the screen and have it shipped in.

Hmmmmm...new rocks to look under.
Good information. Never really thought of looking in pawn shops. I like to look under all the rocks, and behind all the couches. There are a couple pawn shops in town I should put on my gun-finding route. Thanks!

I'd really like one of those Bianchi's for my 3" 65.
When I was a young officer back in the early 80's I attended a firearms instructor's training class. One of the FBI instructors was carrying his Model 13 3" in a neat looking paddle holster, but it did not have a snap to secure the weapon. I asked him about it and said I'd like to have one just like it for my 2 1/2" Model 66. He said he only used it for training purposes and it turns out he made holsters as a hobby. I asked him how much it would cost to have him make me one too. He said he never made them to sell, but he had made them for fellow officers. This is what he made for me and as it turns out he wouldn't let me pay him for it. I had given him my address and a couple of weeks later it showed up with a note in it that simply said "Enjoy your new holster." Unfortunately his name is lost to time.
I haven't worn this one for a long time, but it sure carries nicely!

I've only had good luck at one pawn shop and my luck has been outstanding at that one. Glad you were able to find what you were looking for. I had been looking for a model 28 in great shape. One day a friend call me and tells me the pawn shop has 2 of them. One was so nice (both were 1980 models) it needed to go to a collector. I bought the other and shoot it every chance I get. I'm with you GOOD Pawn shops just rock.

Some times you luck out.
An old M28 no dash, $350 + tax OTD 18 months ago.
Now they check GB on all the handguns they get in......

Nice pawn shop score.
You got a really nice blaster.
I've done well at the local pawn shops, well that is until close to the end of last year.
There hasn't been anything I'm looking for showing up in a quite a while and no I just gotta have it's either.

Well you just have to keep checking. The day you pass it by cause "they never have anything I'm interested in" is the day you'll miss out on something really cool. Just think, if I hadn't stopped in.........
