Model 16-4 front sight question
Hi, have some elvevation problems with my M 16 i got this tueseday. Even with the rear sight in bottom position it hits around 3,5" high at 27 yards.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement sight. I have searched everywhere without finding something decent. I`m going to use a .110 Weigand rear sight blade.

Dusting off an old thread...
Did you find a solution to the issue? I just picked up a 16-4 and have the same issue. Calculations show I need a front sight that's 0.040" taller. That's too much to file off the rear blade.
Thanks,
Krogen

What is the height of your front sight blade? They do make taller front sights. That should be a pinned in front sight.

If this helps, the front post of my 6" M16-4 measures 0.170" and I have no sight in problems using 90-100 gr bullets in 32 magnum.

Thanks, guys. Mine is also a 6" and measures 0.169" give or take a couple thou. So, the same as Bastogne71's. I have suspected it's the nut holding the stocks and this supports that theory. I'm not used to the gun yet, so I'll give it some more time. I'm not ready to swap the front sight out yet. I plan to switch the stocks from finger groove combats to traditional targets. That may help reduce muzzle flip - not that the 32 H&R is a big kicker. I only put 25 round of factory ammo through the gun so far. It merits more fiddling, er... "testing." Perhaps some faster, lighter-bullet handloads.
