Default Model 13-3 unusual?

Hello forum,

This is my first post, and I am here to ask a question of the knowledgeable members first up.

I have recently purchased a Model 13-3, round butt, 4 inch heavy barrel. My online research thus far would indicate that the 4 inch only came out in a square butt configuration.

The serial number is 9D98XXX.

Your assistance in clarifying whether my Model 13 is likely to have left the factory in its current configuration would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

From your serial number, your gun was most likely produced in 1982, maybe 1983. From the begining the model 13's were available in either round or square butt configuration. Between 1995-96 the square butt feature was deleted. The 13-3 was produced between 1982 until 1988 when the 13-4 appeared. The model 13 was discontinued in 1999.

So, is there a pic in our future? We like pics!!

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the fast reply. That time frame is consistent with my research thus far.

Photo to be posted later today. It is about 10:00am Saturday here, and I am off to the range for the first time with it. I will post a pic upon my return.

Hope you have a great weekend,

Shane.

I feel like I'm in a time warp! It's 8:17 Friday evening here. Good shootin', we want to see a target too!

Well I am back from the range and here is the promised pic.

No target unfortunately as I was using it in a match 'Field Silhouette'. Shooting offhand at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards at metallic silhouettes. I managed to hit at least one at each range, so was happy with that on the first outing. This is not the match I would normally shoot with this, but thought I would give it a go.

Anyway here is the pic…
