Default N frames wearing their proper magna stocks.

Greetings fellow and gal , Smithophiles.

Having recently won a pair of N presentation Magnas on Gone broker
I came to realize more than ever how a N frame Smith must be properly
shod.
Smith & Wesson -N- frame factory grip new. : Pistol Grips at GunBroker.com

I picked them up at the mailbox and installed them on the
standard barrel model 25-9 I got from GRT, and then looked at
my other model 25s.

And here is the pattern.

Standard barreled ( tapered barrel ) N frames 5'' and less get Magnas.
Heavy barrel 4'' N frames also get magnas. Preferably smooth
presentation Magnas.

Longer than 5'' , and especially 6 and 8'' heavy barreled N frames
get N finger Combat Stocks.

Here are the pictures, taken today, as the Blue Square butt N frames
in 45 Colt stand. 16 total with 4 having been converted from
Heavy Duties or model 28-2s.

And one late model 25-13 Mountain gun wearing Round butt magnas.

We can see in the photos taken in bright sun how the G.S.P.
Model 26-1s have blue frames and Plum barrels !
A testimonial to the bluing process in use at Smith & Wesson
in the 1987 - 1988 timeframe.

3 in and 4 in heavy barreled N frames get the Magna stocks.
They just look right.

The new stocks are second from the front in this photo.
They are very wide and large for Magnas.

They almost seem yellow in this photo, but they are
Goncalo Alves, the coloring is just a trick of the light.

May all your N frame dreams come true !

I hate magnas (and service grips). I keep them just 'cause.

That would be okay if I was running a museum or a collection in my safe. Guns I shoot get grips that help close the area behind the trigger guard and force my grip a bit lower, the prettier the better. I do actually favor the modified target style. A sample is on my square butt 657.

Awesome collection, BTW.

I feel bad, because I only 2 N-Frames! 28 no dash, S serial #, 1960, 6" barrel. 625 JM, 2009.
Both are wearing non original grips. 28, has Herrett Target grips. 625 JM, has Altamont round to square target conversions on it.
I do have period correct mint diamond target grips, and original grips for JM.
A .44 Special (N) is my dream come true. Will I ever get 1? Bob

Very nice (as always) Allen! I have come to believe that Magnas with a Tyler T are perfect for Nframes.

Those prewars are mighty nice.......
