Default Model 681, .357 "NYSP"

All - I have been searching for this specific gun with a "NYSP" stamp. If anyone out there has this gun for sale please let me know. Furthermore if I am lucky enough to find the owner of this gun with SN - AAK3170 I would greatly appreciate it if you could contact me. Thanks to all for any help!

Welcome to the FORUM! I have seen 64's for sale marked NYSP, but not 681's. That does not mean they don't exist. I am just not aware. Good luck on your hunt! Bob

May I ask why your searching for that specific gun, Zach? Sounds like there might be an interesting back story to this hunt.

Thanks to all. Absolutely, here is a quick back story. My father was a NY Trooper and has since retired. In the early. 80's the Dept transitioned to a semi auto. At the time they were given the option to purchase their S&W... Due to the birth of his children and buying a house he did not have the money. I know he would love to have one, or even his original so I decided that for his birthday this year I would try to make it happen.

Default They Do Exist.........

I bought this one about 6 weeks ago off GB.

Unfortunately, I used it as a base for this project. A 3" round butt 681.

It does not carry the serial number you are looking for.

Good luck with your quest.

Ned

They are out there, some with the original boxes. Here's mine, close but no cigar, regarding the SN:

Zack, I retired from the NYSP 6 years ago; started in 1983 and was issued the 681, we transitioned to the Glock, probably about 4 years later. I too could not afford one. So about a year ago I went on this forum and found one stamped; AAK8020. Post a WTB here and eventually you will get one. Bumb it to the top every few days and look on the WTS section every day. Also check gun watcher everyday, search NYSP and you may get luck. You Dad will love it!!!!! I will look for you as well. Jack
